Residence Inn Adds Lodging To Edinburgh Mixed-Use Project
EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND-A 107-room Residence Inn by Marriott, which opened here in November, has become a high point of this city's ambitious new Quartermile mixed-use development.
The $500 million Quartermile project combines adaptive reuse of the historic former Royal Infirmary and stylish, newly constructed buildings, one of which houses the Residence Inn. The Residence Inn Edinburgh is the first of the upscale extended-stay brand's hotels to open in the U.K. and second to open in Europe. It follows a Residence Inn that opened in Munich in October. The mixed-use project, including the hotel, is owned by local real estate developer Gladedale Capital, Ltd., and managed by Marriott. Other Quartermile components include residential, office, retail, and dining.
