POWERED BY GAME CHANGERS
REPRESENTATIVE STACEY ABRAMS
89TH DISTRICT |  GA HOUSE MINORITY LEADER
Representative Stacey Abrams

Stacey Y. Abrams is the House Minority Leader for the Georgia General Assembly and State Representative for the 89th House District. She is the first woman to lead either party in the Georgia General Assembly and is the first African-American to lead in the House of Representatives. Stacey serves on the Appropriations, Ethics, Judiciary Non-Civil Rules, and Ways & Means committees. Did you say political Game Changer? Of course you did. There's more.

At the age of 29, Stacey was appointed as the Deputy City Attorney for the City of Atlanta, where she led the legal and policy analysis for several major economic development, transportation and transit projects and managed a multi-million dollar budget and a team of more than 20 attorneys and paralegals.

Fiercely independent and entrepreneurial, Stacey has also founded a number of businesses, including an infrastructure consulting firm, a technology company and a beverage company for infants and toddlers. Most recently, she co-founded and serves as Senior Vice President at NOW Corporation, a financial services firm that specializes in providing access to capital for small businesses. Obviously a winner with a heart for the people Lisa will sit down to talk to Representative Abrams about the climate for entrepreneurs now along with her take on the hot issues in Georgia.

First elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 2006, Stacey quickly became known for her expertise and ability to explain complicated tax and legal questions, and she earned a reputation for working across party lines to pass legislation. In 2010, Stacey became House Minority Leader and has led the caucus to promote and pass legislation to increase educational opportunity, promote economic security, and improve the quality of life for all Georgians.

In 2012, Stacey received the pre stigious John F. Kennedy New Frontier Award, which honors an elected official under 40 whose work demonstrates the impact of elective public services as a way to address public challenges. Stacey has been recognized nationally as one of the 2014 Public Officials of the Year by Governing magazine. She has received the Friend of Labor Award from the Georgia AFL-CIO and A-ratings from the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. In April 2014, Stacey received the inaugural Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award from EMILY's List and was named to The Root 100. Stacey is also a 2014 Aspen Rodel Fellow and a 2014 Hunt-Kean Leadership Fellow.

Stacey has published articles on issues of public policy, taxation, and nonprofit organizations, including pieces with The Christian Science Monitor, Yale Law and Policy Review, U.S. News and World Reports, and The Huffington Post. She is also the award-winning author of several romantic suspense novels, writing under the pen name Selena Montgomery. How does she do it all and help lead party members to victory time and time again? Find out on Game Changers with Lisa Faulkner.

SHEREE DARIEN
AUTHOR | SPEAKER | SENATE HOPEFUL

Born in rural South Carolina and raised with her four siblings by their single mother, Sheree Darien learned early on the value of hard work, teamwork, and perseverance. Sheree is a Certified Purpose Development Coach who earned her Business Degree from Liberty University.  However, above all of her many accomplishments, Sheree is most grateful for receiving a PhD in second chances and earning two black belts in enduring and overcoming life's hardships. This transformational coach boldly shares the truth! Such as, "we are more than what we see. If we continue to take ourselves at face value, we will continue to be ripped off!" Like a skilled pilot, Coach Sheree masterfully navigates you from where you are to where you want to go. And trust us you want to go to the nearest radio for Game Changers when Lisa talks to Sheree.

Since 2009, Sheree was appointed as area Commissioner of the governing board at the Technical College of the Lowcountry by Senator Clementa Pinckney and former Govenor Mark Sanford. She was reappointed again in 2012 by Senator Pinckney and current Govenor Nikki Haley. Sheree is also an international best selling author who delights in motivational speaking, in addition to volunteering for a variety of civic, community and charitable causes.

It is that same champion spirit that was heralded from Sheree this month when she announced she is running for the District 45 state Senate seat formerly held by the Rev. Clementa Pinkney, who was killed in June in the mass shooting at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston
Sheree desires to serve as the voice in the  great State of South Carolina. A voice that echoes their concerns. A voice that matters. A voice that cares. Hear more as Lisa opens the mic to Sheree for what is undoubtedly a gainful narrative.
