5 fun things to do before school starts
1. Cool off
Take advantage of the warm weather. Cool off in the fountains at Civic Green Park. 
2. Go for a hike
Colorado is filled with trails that can take you to amazing views throughout our state. Highlands Ranch residents are lucky enough to have dozens of options right here in the community. Pick up a Highlands Ranch outdoors map at the Metro District office, Parks Service Center, James H. LaRue Library or recreation centers.
3. Pack a picnic
Change up dinner plans this weekend. Pack some quick and easy f ood, such as sandwiches, and get out to a local park like Fly'n B Park or Civic Green Park. Spend time with the family and discuss your favorite memories of summer. 
4. Pitch a tent
You don't have to go far to experience camping. Why not go camping right in your backyard? Pitch a tent, roast some marshmallows and spend time with the kids before school starts.
5. Watch a movie
Grab some blankets, pop some popcorn and spend time together with a family movie night.
Senior Adult Feasibility Study
Residents are invited to a community open house as part of the Metro District's Senior Adult Feasibility Study. The open house will be held at the Metro District's Hendrick Office Building, 62 Plaza Dr., Highlands Ranch, from 4 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15.
 
Community members are encouraged to come, visit with staff and provide input on future services and programs to serve the adult population in Highlands Ranch.

Benefit Golf Tournament
The Highlands Ranch Park & Recreation Foundation Benefit Golf Tournament is Sept. 25 from
1 - 7 p.m. at the Highlands Ranch Golf Club, 9000 Creekside Dr., Highlands Ranch. Check-in begins at  12:30 p.m. 

All proceeds from this annual tournament benefit the Highlands Ranch Park & Recreation Foundation for   local park and recreation programs and facilities.

Participants will enjoy 18 holes of golf, dinner, drinks, prizes and a tax deduction. Prizes will be awarded for the top three teams, third from the last, longest drive, closest to the pin and longest putt. 

The registration deadline is Monday, Sept. 19.  The cost is $95 per golfer.

There are still openings to sponsor the event.

Save the date for the Summer's Sunset Concert
The Summer's Sunset Concert is Thursday, Aug. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Civic Green Park. The Rumour Band will perform popular dance music, and three food trucks will serve food:  Simply Pizza, Burgerchief and Happy Cones CO. 
 
Dance to your favorite hits, enjoy the food and celebrate the end of summer  with this free outdoor concert.

Celebrate our western heritage at the Western Winter Gala from 7 - 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 24 at the Highlands Ranch Mansion, 9950 E. Gateway Dr. Tickets are $95 per person.

Enjoy an evening of fine whiskey tasting from a variety of distillers accompanied by hearty, gourmet bites catered by Catering by Design. Tour the historic Mansion, which was once part of a vast ranching empire. The 22,000-square-foot Mansion has been home to cattle barons, oil tycoons, prominent Denver socialites, as well as political and business leaders who helped to create the Colorado we know today.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Highlands Ranch Park & Recreation Foundation to support the Highlands Ranch Mansion historic programs, community events and enhancements.
