With surgery, Oreo can be a normal goofy, playful puppy who can grow up and enjoy a long and happy life with a family who adores him. Without
this surgery, Oreo will later struggle for breath, suffer from frequent fainting
spells, and will develop congestive heart failure at a very young age and we will always worry that each day is his last.
As if all of that weren't enough, Oreo has been hospitalized for the last 10+ days for treatment of pneumonia. He is recovering very well and should be released in the next day or two -- this little guy is a fighter, with a strong will to live!

Oreo during his exam and the ultra-sound, not so much as
a peep or a whimper! It's like he knows we are trying to help him.
HART needs your tax-deductible donation to alleviate Oreo's daily struggles AND to save his life. Oreo's corrective card
iac surgery will cost HART $4500 (with our rescue discount). And now of course there is the additional medical costs we are incurring for his current treatments for pneumonia. Given this we are hoping to raise at least $6,500 to cover his medical bills.
In the past year, HART has shouldered extraordinary veterinary expenses related to large numbers of rescued animals needing complex medical care. Just one example is the rescue of 19 Italian Greyhounds suffering from horrific neglect including broken jaws that required delicate and innovative surgeries. Many of the females had mammary tumors that also required surgery. Almost all of them were emaciated and needed extensive medical attention. Sadly a few of these lovely dogs were so sick that we couldn't save them. But thanks to HART, almost all of these graceful animals are now enjoying wonderful new homes and have excellent quality of life. HART has repeatedly intervened in multiple scenarios similar to this one in the past year. We are also receiving such requests from farther and farther away! Both of these markers indicate we are accomplishing our mission!
As a member of the HART community, we want you to know that our organization continues to grow, as we have in our 25+ years, in recognition and respect as we rescue, provide medical attention, food, shelter and love to our animal citizens when others are unable. In order to sustain this growth and expansion, we call upon YOU, our HART community to help.
