Trucks have always been popular with American drivers, and more and more car buyers are choosing to purchase them as gas prices have remained relatively stable. As many dealers know, Texans are especially fond of their trucks. But how many trucks are on Texas roads compared to the rest of the country? Take our trivia quiz below and find out.

No Driver's License? Can a Customer Still Buy a Car?
 

A member recently called the TIADA  Compliance Consultation Service (CCS)  for advice in dealing with a pending lawsuit. The member sold a car to a customer who did not present a valid driver's license at the time of purchase. The customer  did  present ID that the State of Texas deemed acceptable. Legislature Passes Bills to Reduce Regulator Burden, TIADA Waits for Governor's Signature

With less than a week to go in the 85th Legislative Session, lawmakers have passed two TIADA-supported bills designed to eliminate unnecessary government regulation that burdens dealers. Both bills, House Bill 2067 (Oliveira) and House Bill 2949 (Holland) now head to Governor Greg Abbott's desk to await his signature before they become law.

Maintaining Auto Payment No Longer Top Consumer Priority

TransUnion discovered that maintaining payments on that vehicle installment contract no longer is the top priority when the holder hits a rough financial patch and has to adjust to being short on monthly income. When faced with the choice of which debts to pay and which to miss, the latest TransUnion study found that consumers in financial distress tend to prioritize unsecured personal loans ahead of other credit products such as auto financing, mortgages and credit cards.

It's a Buyer's Market for Used Cars, Edmunds Report Finds

Memorial Day used-car shoppers will be test-driving and deal-making in one of the strongest buyer's markets in recent memory, according to the latest Edmunds Used Vehicle Market Report. An ever-growing glut of vehicles coming off lease means shoppers who want a car between 3 and 4 years old will have a huge selection from which to choose.

U.S. Regulators Approve VW Diesel Fix for 84,000 Vehicles

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board on Friday announced approval of a fix for about 84,000 older Volkswagen diesel vehicles that can emit excess emissions. Volkswagen, the world's largest automaker, agreed last year to offer to buy back up to 475,000 2.0-liter diesel vehicles that had been sold in the U.S. or offer fixes if regulators approved.

U.S. Regulators Open Probe into Recall of Nearly 1.7 Million Hyundai, Kia Models

U.S. safety regulators have opened a formal investigation into the recall of nearly 1.7 million vehicles by Hyundai Motor Co and affiliate Kia Motor Corp over engine defects, according to filings published Saturday. A South Korean whistleblower reported concerns last year to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which will probe the timeliness of three recalls carried out in the United States and whether they covered enough vehicles.

6 Recommendations to CFPB Regarding Alternative Data

As the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau takes a closer look at alternative data, the American Bankers Association delivered an eight-page comment letter containing a half dozen suggestions about the current and potential use of alternative data and modeling techniques in the credit process. Along with the suggestions, ABA also raised regulatory concerns, especially when using alternative data might trigger the CFPB to take action for what the bureau could allege as unfair, deceptive, and abusive acts and practices (UDAAP).
