Clay Humane Receives
BISSELL Pet Foundation Partners Grant
BISSELL Pet Foundation has awarded Clay Humane $8,000 toward our FREE Spay It Forward program. Thank you BISSELL Pet Foundation for your continued support.
The Clay Humane Spay It Forward initiative is aimed at lowering animal intake in area shelters thus reducing euthanasia in companion animals. Thirty-five percent of cats in U.S. households are not spayed or neutered, yet the procedure is one of the most effective ways to reduce the homeless pet population!

Poster Contest Winner Announced
Congratulations Jaslynne Gonzalez from Tynes Elementary School!
As part of our ongoing mission to foster humane attitudes through education, the Society brought its annual poster contest to Clay County Schools. Once again, participating fifth grade classes were treated to a presentation on the importance of spaying and neutering to prevent pet overpopulation. The students were then asked to create a poster to demonstrate this important message. More than 800 students took part. Each school chose three posters to represent their classes and a panel of judges decided the top three winners overall.
The 2017 winning poster was created by Jaslynne Gonzalez, a student at Tynes Elementary School. Aside from having her poster made into a giant billboard along Blanding Boulevard in Orange Park, Jaslynne received a prize package that included four tickets to Sea World and Aquatica, and a check for $100. The billboard is displayed for the entire month of January. Additional winners were; 2nd place Katelyn Hellman of Oakleaf Village Elementary and 3rd place Macy Opp of Shadowlawn Elementary.

Pet-Assisted Therapy Teams Visit Wilkinson Junior High
A furry reading buddy? Teams from Clay Humane’s Pet-Assisted Therapy Program were delighted to be a captivated audience to 7th and 8th graders while they practiced their reading skills. A good story and puppy snuggling, sounds like a perfect combination!
"Thank you so much for organizing this morning's visit. We loved having Maggie in my room. It was perfect timing too! Some of my shyest, quietest kids had the opportunity to read to her!" - April Switzer, teacher
