How long, O Lord? How long shall I have perplexity in my mind and grief in my heart, day after day?
This passage from Psalm 13 has been running through my mind off and on for most of the year. Every time I hear of another act of violence, I lament, I ask, I grieve.
But I must do more. I must trust God, I must risk all, I must love with all my heart. And, I must forgive and teach forgiveness, over and over again.
I cannot do this alone. I need God's help and I need yours. I need this community of faith where we gather to lament, ask, grieve, trust, risk, love, and forgive. This and only this will bring in the just reign of God.
In the end, in the midst of this anguish, I am also grateful. I am grateful I have the Church, with a rich tradition that holds me fast to God heart, and provides me with people willing to work to bring in God's love.
Only God can answer the question "How long?" In the meantime, let us trust in God and work to bring peace to the earth, one heart at a time.
- Debbie

This Sunday, the readings from scripture take place in a vineyard.
At 9:00 am, Young and the Restless will do what God did in the beginning, sing in Creation. All are welcome to this service of Holy Communion for infnats and toddlers and their families and friends.
At 10:30 am, our Stewardship Epistle comes from Jonathan Bailly. The Parish Choir will sing the "Teach me, O Lord" by Thomas Attwood. The children will continue to harvest their Abundant Life Garden.
At 5:00 pm, Celtic Evensong with Communion will focus on Creation as we hold Jane Stewart in prayer as she remembers her mother, Ellen, who died this summer. Jane will give the reflection, as we offer prayers and music in the Celtic tradition. The service concludes as it does each week with Holy Communion.
Please join us wherever you are in your search for meaning.

Halloween Events at Grace Church
|
Organ Concert
Friday the 13th, we will have an organ spooktacular as Mark Engelhardt returns to Grace Church for a concert with a Halloween flair. Of course he will be playing Toccata and Fugue in d minor by Bach, but there will be other wonderful pieces by Mussorgsky and William Albright. As the subdean of the AGO stated, "This is going to be a Great and Swell program." (Pun intended). There will be a singalong too of Halloween favorites.
So come and enjoy the fun at this free concert sponsored by the Merrimack Valley and Boston American Guilds of Organists. Doors open at 7:00 with concert beginning at 7:30 pm.
Silent Movies
Yet again we will show our two classic horror movies, Phantom of the Opera and Nosferatu at Grace Church, accompanied by Ryan Patten on the organ. Phantom of the Opera will air on Saturday October 21 at 7:30 pm and Nosferatu will air on Saturday, October 28 at 7:30 pm. Doors open at 6:45 pm. Seats fill up fast so it's a good idea to preorder your tickets at https://grace-church.ticketleap.com. Tickets cost $20 for one movie or $35 if you buy tickets for both at the same time. You don't want to miss this neighborhood event!
