Greetings!
THE BEST WAY TO INTRODUCE YOUR KIDS TO YOUR NEW BOY/GIRLFRIEND
It's a brand new year with new beginnings. As a part of their happy new lives, many of our clients ask us when it's okay to introduce a new partner to their children.
So we've provided these 5 Guidelines to help you make the introduction as healthy as possible for your kids.

Start with brief, casual meetings at first, so your kids can get comfortable with the idea. Avoid long periods of time, or “replacing” the other parent in the children’s familiar home.
Your children’s age plays a part too. Children under the age of 10, tend to feel more possessive of their parents, so introducing a new partner may cause confusion, sadness, and anger. And, it may take time – don’t be disappointed if your kids just don’t fall in love with your new partner right away. It’s always a great idea to give your ex the head’s up that you are going to introduce this person to your kids so he/she can be prepared to answer questions and help the kids process this new relationship.

Here are 5 more tips to help you make the transition as smooth for your kids as possible.
THIS MONTH'S
HAPPILY EVER AFTER STORY
Attorney Ryan Mullis
holds her client's baby girl
Our staff shopped for baby clothes,
shoes, coats and diapers.
This month, our team helped a single father rescue his baby girl from a potentially dangerous situation. Our client's child was in a severe car accident with her mother who was driving under the influence and did not have a license, and the infant car seat was installed backwards. The baby sustained some pretty serious injuries. After the accident, the mom was refusing to let dad visit with her and other family members.

Our associate attorney, Ryan Mullis, petitioned the court for an emergency hearing and successfully won physical custody for the dad. That night she was returned to her Dad (via court order). The child was handed over to her dad with nothing but the clothes and diaper she was wearing. That weekend, our staff went shopping! We presented her with an adorable wardrobe of clothes, coats, shoes, hair accessories and diapers too! Now Dad sends us pictures every chance he gets!
