I wanted to let you know about a new e-book by HubSpot, one of our sponsors. It's called "How to Use Facebook for Business." 

 

I thought I knew a good bit about Facebook, but there are some real gems in this e-book. Here are just some of the tips that are included:

  • Make your Business Page publicly searchable. You can confirm that your Business Page is publicly searchable by going into the "Edit Page" section, clicking "Manage Permissions" and making sure the "Page Visibility" box is unchecked.
  • Don't create a personal profile for your business. Profiles are for people; Pages are for business. Creating a Page also allows you to let more than one person manage the account.
  • Privacy settings help you keep business and personal information separate. Facebook allows you to customize your privacy settings to control who sees which portions of your profile. An advanced way for customizing your settings is to set up a Friend List, which puts your friends into relevant groups. Details on how to do this are in the e-book
  • You may also want to consider starting a Group. The key distinction between Groups and Pages is that a Group is for a community of people with a common interest, while a Page represents a brand or entity of which there are "fans." 

To my pleasant surprise, this free e-book is not filled with the usual broad overview of Facebook -- instead, it's filled with practical, actionable tips that can help businesses like yours use Facebook to grow your sales and revenue.
