A big thank you to all of the parents and friends who have signed up to volunteer for the many school volunteer opportunities.  This is going to be a great year! 
If you have not had the opportunity to fill out your volunteer form, we have extra copies in the office or you can click here to print out the form. 
Room Parents- We are still in need of Room Parents for preschool, first, fifth and eighth grades.  Please let us know if you would like to volunteer.  Any questions about the job?  Ask Ms. Miller or Mrs. Betancourt.
School Forms-  If you haven't returned your student forms, please do so now.  
Snack- Please be sure to send a healthy snack each day for your student.  Please include any utensils they may need. 
Water bottles- P lease send your child to school with a water bottle.  They can refill them here at school with water from our filtered water fountain in the gym.
Please label all jackets, sweaters and sweatshirts with your student's last name.

Grandparents' Day
Friday, September 30th
Invite your loved ones!  Grandparents, family and friends are invited to visit our school from 8:30-10am for a special assembly.  Join us as the classes recite to those special people in our lives, their grandparents.  Breakfast for the grandparents will be provided by the 8th graders.
You will have the opportunity to visit the classrooms after assembly, and see all of the great things that our children do during their time at school. 

Back to School Potluck
Saturday, October 1st from 4-6pm
Where: The Howard School 
Come join The Howard School Families at our 80's themed Back to School potluck.  Invite family and friends to enjoy music, games and the main course prepared by Chef Rossignol.  Please sign up for side dishes, salad and fruit etc.  A sign up sheet will be placed in front of the school next week.
We will also need set up/clean up help for this event.
Axxess Books
Fundraising Opportunity
Be on the lookout for Axxess books and order forms.  The students will be bringing them home on September 15th to help raise money for our school.  $10 for every $30 book sold will go back to our school.  Every student that sells at least 2 books will earn a fun gift card.  Ventura books will also be available to sell.

Art Club with Ms. Stebbins

Howard Art Club!

Thursdays, beginning September 15th through December 8th


Fee: $140 + $12 materials fee

Open to 3rd grade and above (1st and 2nd grade students subject to pre-approval of Ms. Stebbins).


This class will focus on the elements and techniques of drawing as we go deep to learn about line, shape, form, value, shading, positive and negative space, perspective, composition and more.  They will work on contour drawing and gesture drawing as well as still life set ups, with a great deal of individual attention to allow each student to work at his or her own pace.  Materials will be provided including a professional-style notebook and set of drawing pencils for each student, as well as charcoals, erasers, pencil sharpener, case and whatever else we might desire to use. They will likely delve into color as well, with colored pencils and watercolor provided.

Academic Chess is back this year!


Tuesdays, beginning on September 20th through November 8th


K-4th: Class will be held from 3:05-4:05pm

5th-8th: Class will be held from 3:35-4:35pm 


Fee: $100 for the session

Chaucer's Book Fair is early this year!

Sunday, September 25th from 4-6pm


25% of all purchases during these hours will be donated to The Howard School.


Shop early for the holidays! 

Don't forget about birthdays and gift certificates as well. 

Gift certificates can be purchased ahead of time through the school office and credited to The Howard School at the event.


Box Tops
Due Thursday, October 26th
The class with the most Box Tops will earn a free dress day for the day, as well as ice cream for the whole class.  Second place will earn free dress for the day.  Get your Box Tops in and help support our school.
