This week the Village of Howard wrapped up another exciting summer session of Pee Wee Playground and the Playground Program. Twenty-three 3- to 6-year-olds participated in group games, crafts and story times at Pinewood Park, while 38 children ages 7-11 enjoyed organized activities and special events at Meadowbrook Park. The parkies took LOTS of pictures of the fun, and we're sharing them in this week's "Howard Happenings."

The Howard Village Board is in the final stages of contract negotiations with the person who will be the village's newest administrator. The official announcement and contract approval will take place at the next regular Village Board meeting 6:30 p.m. Aug. 22. Five finalists came to Howard July 29-30 for tours of the village's facilities, a reception and dinner, interviews with the board and presentations in front of a citizen committee. Join us on Aug. 22 to learn who was selected!

A 500-foot stretch of South Memorial Drive west of Packerland Drive will be closed August 15-17 due to utility and roadway construction. Motorists are advised to take Packerland Drive to Holly Way as an alternate route during the road closure.

The regularly scheduled Plan Commission meeting for August 15 has been canceled due to lack of items for the agenda. A special meeting may be held in the coming weeks if the need arises. The Village of Howard posts ALL meeting agendas at Village Hall, the Howard Fire Department, and the Public Works Building and also lists complete meeting agendas and minutes on the village website at www.villageofhoward.com.
