TODAY!

The Luckyday Service Team is looking to raise awareness about Domestic Violence. As a result, there will be an event today, April 27 beginning at 6pm in the Luckyday Multipurpose Room. They will have a Victims Panel from 6-7pm with victims of domestic violence and other speakers. "Safe Haven" will be shown beginning at 7pm. Victims will tell their stories and students will be able to ask questions. A representative from USM Counseling Services will be on hand. After the event, you will have the opportunity to sign-up for the Shafer Center Walk on April 30. Students will be offered two service hours for participating.
Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids' Sake!
This event will be held on Monday, April 27 from 4-9pm at Hub City Lanes. We need the word to spread about this event and for people to sign up for bowling teams. The website to sign up and donate is here.
Pi Phi's Lemonade for Literacy
This year, the Mississippi Alpha Chapter of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity will be hosting their first annual Lemonade for Literacy, benefiting the Pi Beta Phi Foundation. Statistics show that one in four children will grow up functionally illiterate. The Pi Beta Phi Foundation commits itself to creating a more literate and productive society by honoring the past while building a future through child literacy.

They would like to invite you, your friends, organizations, and chapter to come enjoy a selection of lemonades to foster child literacy on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 and Wednesday, April 29, 2015. They will have lemonade stands located outside the Library, inside the Thad Cochran Center, and under the Century Park Breezeway from 10am to 4pm on both days. Each drink will cost $2 and they will gladly accept any donations that your chapter or organization choose to make.

They thank you in advance for your support for a cause that means so much to their chapter. Feel free to contact their VP of philanthropy, Kirsten Sahuque or any other member of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for more information. They appreciate all of your support and encouragement!

Paid Internships with University Communications

The Office of University Communications will have three paid undergraduate intern positions available in the near future. These include a social media intern position, a general office intern position, and a news and media relations intern position. Each of these positions has a projected start date of May 11, 2015. However, UC is always willing to work with students to meet academic and personal commitments when schedule conflicts arise. UC is also more than willing to work with academic units when possible to have the internship count for academic credit.
