Only One Student Activities Orientation Left!
There is only ONE more Student Activities Orientations (SAO) available to attend. If your organization has not already had at least 2 members attend a SAO sign-up here for the orientation held on September 4th from 3pm - 4pm.
*If your organization has already signed up for the September 4th SAO you do not need to sign-up again.
Don't Miss the First Friday Night at the Fountain of the Semester
This Friday, September 5th will be the first Friday Night at the Fountain of the semester. It is a Mahalo Mixer, so come and enjoy delicious Hawaiian food and the Wes Loper Band.

Need Help Making Your Organization's Meetings Worthwhile?

Join us for the first Student Leadership Workshop of the semester with guest speaker Wynde Fitts, Associate Dean of Students. Come learn how best to lead your meetings and make them worthwhile for all members.

The workshop will be held on Wednesday, September 24th from 3pm - 4pm. Sign-up here.

Union Elevator Demolition Began Monday, August 25th

Demolition of The Union elevator, located just north of Subway and Chick-Fil-A, began last Monday, August 25th.

Expect loud noises during the demolition process, which will last approximately two weeks. The installation of a new elevator will begin shortly after demolition is complete, with an estimated project completion date of February 2015. 

Greek Life Office can be accessed from behind the elevator construction area.

Free Equipment Rentals from iTech

iTech's Audio and Equipment Services department recently updated their pricing and are now offering free equipment rentals to all registered student organizations. Work with your organization's advisor for department sponsorship to receive free equipment rentals.  

For all equipment rentals that require an iTech technician to set-up the equipment and/or stay during your event, all your organization is required to pay is the technician's labor. The labor rates are: $35/hr for events held from 8am - 5pm and $45/hr for events held after 5pm (minimum 3 hours).

What is STRIVE for Five?
STRIVE for Five is a new program designed to challenge Southern Miss student organizations through increased opportunities for leadership and organizational development.
Organizations will receive rewards for each level of requirements met. In order to meet requirements, members and officers will engage in activities and opportunities throughout the year designed to help them learn, grow, and achieve success.

SGA Judicial Board Advises Students About UPD Procedures
Be advised that the University Police Department (UPD) watches and enforces all parking zones during holidays. UPD can write tickets for all violations during this time.
To appeal a ticket given by UPD, please see the information below:

*   Students get (5) days from their initial date they received the citation to appeal their parking citation. The five days include weekends as well.

*   To file a student complaint | http://www.usm.edu/student-affairs/student-affairs-assistance-students-complaints 

*   To request a hearing for your parking citation, go to www.usm.edu/parking -> scroll down to orange box that says "citation appeals and payments". Click on the box. Then click on the underlined wording that says "request a hearing on the citation, complete a citation appeal form or make a payment online.

*   Once you submit the appeal, it automatically goes to Parking Management. Parking Management either brings the case before the student judicial board or the Dean of Students (DOS) office.

Renting Tables and Chairs from Physical Plant

Starting this semester, the Physical Plant will no longer provide table and chair rentals for campus events held by student organizations. Please contact the Physical Plant for a list of alternative providers at 601.266.4414.
