Student Activities Orientation Make-up Session
Did your organization miss all the scheduled Student Activities Orientations? You're in luck! We have scheduled a make-up session. The session will be on September 25th from 5pm-6pm in TCC 218B. Sign-up here.
*Please note, this is the ONLY make-up session scheduled.
Officer Transition Workshop 
Are you an incoming or new student organization officer? Join us Thursday, September 18th from 3:30pm-4:30pm in TCC 210 to learn the tips and tools to help you be a successful leader this year! Sign-up here.
*This session also counts towards STRIVE for Five program requirements.
Get Ready to Flashback to the 90's! 
What's the 4-1-1? Don't go postal, instead join SMAC on September 19th from 12pm-3pm in Shoemaker Square for a pep rally featuring the Pride of Mississippi Pep Band, followed by SMAC's Flashback Friday in the Student Activities Hub featuring some of your favorite music, games and food from the 90's! It's going to be all that and a bag of chips!
Come Hulk it Out in the Hub!
Hulk it Out in the Hub is an event for all USM students. It will be hosted in the hub on September 23, 2014 from 4:30pm-6:30pm. 
There will be FREE health screenings, T-shirts, a superhero costume contest, and door prizes! 
Healthy snacks will be provided, as well as, nutritional information, and cooking and exercise demonstrations.  
Group Ex classes will include: U Jam, yoga, and body toning. 
This is going to be a fun event you don't want to miss, so start working on those costumes and get ready to win some awesome prizes by channeling your inner superhero strength!
Need Help Making Your Organization's Meetings Worthwhile?

Join us for the first Student Leadership Workshop of the semester with guest speaker Wynde Fitts, Associate Dean of Students. Come learn how best to lead your meetings and make them worthwhile for all members.

The workshop will be held on Wednesday, September 24th from 3pm-4pm. Sign-up here.
NPHC Hop Contest! 
NPHC will be hosting their annual NPHC Hop Contest on September 15, 2014 in Bennett Auditorium. Fraternities and sororities will be performing to musical routines. 
Tickets sold from ticket booth at event only. Doors open at 6:30pm.

SGA Judicial Board Updates
The Student Judicial Board will meet on Monday, September 8, 2014, at 3:30pm in Thad Cochran Center, Room 226.

Parking Management officials start ticketing at 7:30am until 4:30pm Monday through Friday of every week unless otherwise specified from the department.

Appeal Process 
* Students get (5) days from their initial date they received the citation to appeal their parking citation. The five days include weekends as well. 
* To request a hearing for your parking citation, go to www.usm.edu/parking -> scroll down to orange box that says "citation appeals and payments". Click on the box. Then click on the underlined wording that says "request a hearing on the citation, complete a citation appeal form or make a payment online. 
* Once you submit the appeal, it automatically goes to Parking Management. Parking Management either brings the case before the student judicial board or the Dean of Students (DOS) office.
What is STRIVE for Five?
STRIVE for Five is a new program designed to challenge Southern Miss student organizations through increased opportunities for leadership and organizational development.
Organizations will receive rewards for each level of requirements met. In order to meet requirements, members and officers will engage in activities and opportunities throughout the year designed to help them learn, grow, and achieve success.

Free Equipment Rentals from iTech

iTech's Audio and Equipment Services department recently updated their pricing and are now offering free equipment rentals to all registered student organizations. Work with your organization's advisor for department sponsorship to receive free equipment rentals.  

For all equipment rentals that require an iTech technician to set-up the equipment and/or stay during your event, all your organization is required to pay is the technician's labor. The labor rates are: $35/hr for events held from 8am - 5pm and $45/hr for events held after 5pm (minimum 3 hours).

Renting Tables and Chairs from Physical Plant

Starting this semester, the Physical Plant will no longer provide table and chair rentals for campus events held by student organizations. Please contact the Physical Plant for a list of alternative providers at 601.266.4414.
