Presidents, Advisors, and Officers,

It's officially fall! We hope that each of you have had great successes (and continuing to) in recruiting new members for your organizations and that all of your events have been successful. Please look over this week's edition of the Hub Headlines. We have some great information that can be used as a resource for you and your organizations in planning events for the semester and events you can attend for fun. Important Student Activities Updates

There will be a make-up Student Activities Orientation
for any groups that were unable to attend one of the 10 Student Activities Orientations held since July. The make-up session is scheduled for Thursday, October 3, at 12 p.m. in TCC 218 A/B. All groups are required to send at least two representatives.  Sign up here.

We need your rosters! Active organization rosters are due to the Office of Student Activities by Monday, Sept. 30, at 4 p.m. Rosters can be submitted via email as an Excel document to William Takewell, [email protected]. Make sure to include all active members' names and ID numbers. 
 
Presidents' Council Meetings will resume on Thursday, September 26 at noon in TCC 214! This meeting will be used as a time for presidents to get to know one another and as a time for discussing what the council meetings can look like in the future. If you are interested in attending, click here.

  • SGA Homecoming Elections Sept. 24 & 26: students will have the opportunity to select the members of the 2013 Homecoming Court. Voting stations will be located throughout campus in the Library Plaza, Union Lobby, TCC Atrium, LAB Lobby & Payne Center. 
  • Freshman Connections|True Life I'm a College Freshman: "Begin with the End in Mind" Sept. 24 Union Hall of Honors 6 p.m.
  • Student Activities Presidents' Council Meeting Thursday, Sept. 26, TCC 218 A 12 p.m. Sign up here!
  • Student Activities Leadership Workshop: Student Leadership Practices Inventory | Come find out more about the successful practices in leadership and how to apply them to your student organizations and daily life. Thursday, Sept. 26 3 p.m., TCC 214. Sign up to attend here!
  • Stage Monkeys of Hattiesburg Improv Show Joseph Greene Hall 116 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.

Student Organization News and Events
  • SGA Funding Now Available! The SGA Senate has applications available online at southernmisssga.org for organizations to apply for funding. Click on the "Get Involved" tab to find out more on SGA's website. Applications are available until Sept. 27. Hearings for funding will begin Sept. 30. 
  • TEAAM USM is going to the Gulf Coast! On Friday, September 27th, the autism awareness organization at Southern Miss is going to Gulfport, Miss. to tour the Autism Demonstration School. Dr. Timothy Morse, a professor of Special Education, will lead a group of interested students through the facilities to learn more about autistic children in classrooms. We will depart from the Hattiesburg campus at 1:00pm. If you are interested in joining the tour or becoming a member of TEAAM USM, please contact President Michelle Holowach at [email protected].
