Presidents, Advisors, and Officers,

We hope the semester is off to a great start for each of you! So far, we have registered nearly 600 events and have officially registered 164 student organizations. Needless to say, there is plenty of activity happening on campus this fall. Please look over this edition of the Hub Headlines to get more information concerning upcoming events and important updates from our office. As always, contact our office if you have any questions or concerns.

Upcoming Events
Major Events September 16-20
  • President's Convocation for Seniors: Tuesday, September 17, 6-7 p.m. Thad Cochran Center Ballrooms. All Seniors are encouraged to attend. RSVP 
  • SMAC's Winter Blast: Free Ice Skating for all students! Wednesday, September 18, 4-8 p.m. on Centennial Lawn. Bring your own socks and get ready to see snow in September! 
  • IFC Men's Bid Day: Saturday, September 21.

Important Student Activities Updates

There will be a make-up Student Activities Orientation
for any groups that were unable to attend one of the 10 Student Activities Orientations held since July. The make-up session is scheduled for Thursday, October 3, at 12 p.m. in TCC 218 A/B. All groups are required to send at least two representatives.  Sign up here.
 
Presidents' Council Meetings will resume on Thursday, September 26 at noon in TCC 214! This meeting will be used as a time for presidents to get to know one another and as a time for discussing what the council meetings can look like in the future. If you are interested in attending, click here.  

Student Organization News and Events
  • SGA Funding Now Available! The SGA Senate has applications available online at southernmisssga.org for organizations to apply for funding. Click on the "Get Involved" tab to find out more on SGA's website. Applications are available until Sept. 27. Hearings for funding will begin Sept. 30. 
 
  • The Southern Miss Men's Rugby Team will host Troy this weekend. 

    Southern Miss vs. Troy, 

    Saturday, September 21. 

    Kickoff at 2 p.m. at The Rock. 

    Free Admission for all!

     

     
  • Rhythm Rush will be hosting a hip-hop majorette jam session on September 18, at 8:15 PM in the Dogwood Payne Center room FREE of charge. Rhythm Rush is offering classes to share and teach the knowledge of the hip-hop and majorette Rhythm Rush Dance fusion style. Come enjoy a fun, pressure free, jazz funk zone of pure fun and movement! Individuality is encouraged, so bring your sweats, fringe suits, and nancy boots and prepare to BUCK DOWN! Must have student I.D to enter Payne Center, ALL (Guys and Girls) ARE WELCOME!!
 
  • Anyone in the College of Science and Technology is welcomed to attend NSBE's first meetings of the 2013-2014 school year. It will be located in TEC 102 and held on Tuesday @ 12pm-1pm and Wednesday at 3pm-4pm. The same information will be covered at both times. Come see how NSBE can enhance your experience at Southern Miss!
 
  • TEAAM USM is going to the Gulf Coast! On Friday, September 27th, the autism awareness organization at Southern Miss is going to Gulfport, Miss. to tour the Autism Demonstration School. Dr. Timothy Morse, a professor of Special Education, will lead a group of interested students through the facilities to learn more about autistic children in classrooms. We will depart from the Hattiesburg campus at 1:00pm. If you are interested in joining the tour or becoming a member of TEAAM USM, please contact President Michelle Holowach at [email protected].
