Important Student Activities Updates

If your group did not attend a Student Activities Orientation for the 2013-2014 school year, you must contact the Office of Student Activities to make arrangements to meet with a staff member in our office. No on-campus events will be registered or scheduled for groups that have not completed this requirement. Please email William Takewell, william.takewell@usm.edu, to make arrangements for these meetings.

We still need your rosters! Active organization rosters are due to the Office of Student Activities. Rosters can be submitted via email as an Excel document to William Takewell, william.takewell@usm.edu. Rosters were due Sept. 30, however, we will accept them until all groups have turned them in. This will help our office better understand what groups need, and how many people are involved on campus.
Make sure to include all active members' names and ID numbers.

Student Government Association and
Union & Programs Survey

In an attempt to maximize the potential of our student union, SGA and the Union and Programs department are working together to survey students about the current state of the union complex. This short survey could result in some major changes in the union, so student feedback is of the utmost importance! If you could pass the link below on to your students and groups, it would be quite helpful, as we attempt to collect the data. Two survey participants will win a $25 Eagle Dining gift card, but this survey is a really great opportunity for students to tell the university their opinion about the union and its potential.

Complete the survey here!

Thank you for your participation!

Southern Miss Association of Black Journalists Wants YOU!
Greetings Southern Miss Students!
On behalf of the Southern Miss Association of Black Journalists (SMABJ), we are seeking students who are majoring in mass communications or any media related major (e.g. news editorial, print, broadcast, public relations, entertainment industry, advertising, and photojournalism)

Recently, the organization was re-established on campus. The goal of SMABJ is to encourage not only African American students but all students to connect with other students within various media related majors, connect with media professionals within the university as well as across the country and to better the understand the media profession of which students will embark upon in the workforce.

We are in the beginning stages of planning and organizing different educational events or media sessions to give students the opportunity to learn more about their specific media emphasis. If you are interested in learning more about your future career and networking with various media professionals, this is a great opportunity to do just that.

For more information about the organization, feel free to email Crystal Garner at southernmissnabjdigital@gmail.com or Wilton Jackson at wilton.jackson@eagles.usm.edu
Make sure to check out both the Event Services (TCC/Union Complex) and Student Activities Calendars for an up-to-date listing of all campus events. Find your place here on campus!
