Medical Order to REMOVE Life Sustaining Treatment Being
Slammed Through during Lame Duck

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, November 15th, 2016 (Columbus, OH) -
  
Despite statewide grassroots opposition*, the Ohio Senate this spring approved S.B. 165, Medical Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (MOLST), sponsored by Senator Peggy Lehner (R-Dayton).
  
S.B. 165 would establish "medical orders for life sustaining treatment" or "MOLST" form for Ohio-a protocol created and promoted by pro-euthanasia groups.  This bill should in fact be called "Medical Orders to REMOVE Life Sustaining Treatment"
  
The bill is now in the House of Representatives' Health Committee-sponsor testimony this Wednesday, November 16th, and may be voted on before the General Assembly recesses before the end of the year. 
  
Experience in other states has shown that MOLST (or POLST, physicians' orders for life sustaining treatment) bills have preceded assisted suicide bills. A co-sponsor of SB 165, MOLST, Sen. Charleta Tavares (D-Columbus), has recently announced plans to introduce a version of the so-called "Death with Dignity Act", legalizing assisted suicide, following on the heels of the passage of MOLST.
  
Cleveland Right to Life's President, Molly Smith called on every prolife citizen and Christian to take action now.  "The importance of stopping this dangerous bill is imperative" she said.  "The very fact that this bill is being pushed during a lame duck session show that the sponsor knows she has serious grassroots opposition to this dangerous bill."

We know to be true that human rights begin when human life begins, as affirmed in the Declaration of Independence.  So as to foster a culture of life we promote and defend the right to life of all innocent human beings and reject such practices as abortion, euthanasia, infanticide, and same-sex marriage that are contrary to "the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God".  We represent pro-life citizens from over 8 counties in the region, making our organization one of the largest pro-life organizations in the State of Ohio. We focus our efforts first and foremost at the local level to achieve local solutions and then cooperate with the state and national pro-life efforts as directed and needed.
