ROUTE DESCRIPTIONS  The 2015 All You Can Eat Century now offers five routes, each offering riders a suitable challenge, regardless of ultimate fitness or ability.

Climbing! Both the Skyline Century and Fishtrap Road Metric feature significant and challenging climbs around the 30-mile mark. All of our routes feature quiet roads and rest stops every 10 to 20 miles.
  • Skyline Century, 101 Miles - We have shortened the Skyline Century route by about a mile this year, but it still travels the stunning 17-mile stretch of TN-97/AL-65/CR-146 that is a designated Alabama Scenic Byway through the shaded Paint Rock Valley. The road is so lightly traveled that moss grows in the pavement cracks. This is after ascending a tough 2.1 miles from Woodville and riding 20 miles along the ridgeline of Skyline Mountain. An extra stop has been added to the Skyline Century, bringing the total to seven rest stops over 103 miles. Total elevation gain is 4500 feet.  Printable, or GPS
  • Fishtrap Road Metric, 65 Miles - introduced in 2014 features a 3-mile climb with a 17-percent short finishing ramp, before plunging down Cathedral Caverns highway back into scenic Kennamer Cove. This hill may be tougher than the climb to Skyline Mountain on the full century. Total elevation gain is 2300 feet. Printable, or GPS
  • Mostly Flat Metric, 63 miles - Since the Fishtrap Road Metric proved to be a bit much for first-time metric century riders, we have re-introduced the Mostly Flat Metric for 2015. The route goes out to the second rest stop at the old Gulf Station on Butler Mill Road, where it doubles back and then follows quiet and shady Paint Rock River Road through New Hope. It returns to Cherry Tree Road and Rest Stop 1 before returning to the finish through Gurley. Total elevation gain is a leisurely 1664 feet over 64 miles.  Printable, or GPS
  • The 50-mile and 34-mile routes follow locally popular cycling routes in eastern Madison County with plenty of shade and gently rolling roads. There are some gentle climbs and a couple of fast descents. 50 Mile -Printable , or GPS 34 mile - Printable, or GPS
SIGNAGE & MAPS  Printed maps with emergency contacts nos. will be available.  Each route will be color-coded and marked with stencils.  A poster at registration will show colors for each distance.

RIDE SUPPORT  Expect at least one bike mechanic to be available, plus Southern Carnage  and plenty of radio-equipped SAG support!

LODGING There are no host hotels set up, but plenty of good lodging choices in the Huntsville area.
REST STOPS  Look for PBJ sandwiches, a large selection of cookies, salty snacks, bananas, pickles, Gatorade (courtesy of Buffalo Rock/Pepsi), and water. Tomato and basil sandwiches at the last stop!  Century riders, we will take care of you this year!!! You will have 7 well-stocked stations with the longest distance between at 15 miles!

SIGN IN   Plenty of Centurion Medals & patches have been ordered and the Alabama Backroads Century Series girls will be there cheering you in and taking photos of your smiling faces.  You know the routine for Photographer, Rose Gacula...pose with your bikes, wearing or holding your medal/patch.  She will make you famous!

SHOWER facilities will be available at the school gym.

As you know, BuffaloRock/Pepsi has been a huge supporter of our Century Series!  Now it's our turn to support them. You may have heard about the proposed Alabama Beverage Tax which would increase prices on common grocery items including many Buffalo Rock products...in turn affecting the job security of their employees and ultimately, sponsorship of our Alabama Backroads Century Series. Please, please join the Stop the Alabama Beverage Tax coalition by simply signing up at the StopTheAlabamaBeverageTax.com website.
