Dear NYCHA Residents:
Now that Hurricane Sandy has passed it is critical for NYCHA to ensure the safety of our residents and our buildings. NYCHA staff is out in the field assessing our buildings - checking boiler, electrical and elevator systems, and working with Con Edison to assess steam and gas lines. We are only addressing critical repairs at this time, so we can resume services in Zone A and other affected areas as soon as possible. Once building systems are restored, we will focus on property clean up and recovery efforts over the coming days. Please check local news, the NYCHA website, NYCHA's Facebook and Twitter pages and call the NYCHA Customer Contact Center at 718-707-7771 for guidance on when building services are operational. On behalf of the NYCHA Board, thank you for your cooperation; thank you to all of our resident leaders and everyone throughout City government who is helping to ensure the safety of NYCHA residents throughout Hurricane Sandy. Sincerely,
John B. Rhea
