Workshop Description
Service Providers and Family Court are challenged by increased reports of intimate partner violence (IPV). In this workshop we will review the effects of IPV on children, parents, and parenting. The workshop will provide an overview of a process for screening, evaluation, and decision-making around parenting plans, with considerations of treatment and other interventions when working with IPV and high conflict families.
Intimate Partner Violence is a challenging aspect of many high conflict family cases. A strong and dynamic relationship between the family court system and clinical services is essential to effectively servicing these families. This relationship will be explored in the context of a case study and panel discussion.
Lawyers and judges, mediators, psychologists, custody evaluators, social workers, counsellors and therapists, youth workers, anti-violence workers, clergy, police and others who work with high conflict families.
