Olivia Beier of Omaha, Taylor Lofdahl of Omaha, and Angela Mercurio of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada received Nebraska's 2017 Outstanding Student Leadership Awards. At the reception hosted on Friday, April 21, four additional students were honored as finalists and 13 as semifinalists.

Intercultural Conversations, a program developed last fall at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln which strives to integrate international and domestic students with intentionality, won the Innovative Program Award at the 2017 Association for Orientation, Transition, and Retention in Higher Education (NODA) Region V Conference. Read more>>

A combined ceremony on Thursday, April 19, recognized positive achievements for students named to ‘Franco’s List’ and those who earned certificates and service awards through the Center for Civic Engagement. At the event the Character Council debuted two new distinctions, the Sam Foltz Award and the Franco Fund Scholarship. Read more>>

In appreciation of Jan Deed’s years of extraordinary and sustained service to students, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln honored her with the James V. Griesen Exemplary Service to Students Award on April 23 during the annual All-University Honors Convocation. Read more>>

Eight undergraduates, five graduate students and one doctoral student participated in the Ninth Annual Lavender Graduation hosted by the LGBTQA+ Resource Center on Thursday, April 20. The ceremony honored graduates as well as allies and individuals whose outstanding contributions have positively impacted the LGBTQA+ community. Read more>>

On Friday, April 21, the last Franco Friday networking event took place at the Recreation and Wellness Center on East Campus. Prior to the event, Student Affairs Staff Council members encouraged City Campus employees to take the bus to East Campus to broaden their campus knowledge. On Saturday, April 22 the University of Nebraska Inter-Tribal Exchange (UNITE) hosted a powwow on the Nebraska Union green space to honor graduates. Hundreds of community members and Nebraska affiliates gathered to watch traditional dances and socialize. Read more>>

Students danced, played games, enjoyed food and socialized while DJ Mengistu and the UNL DJ Club played and mixed tracks at the Battle of the DJs hosted by OASIS on Tuesday, April 11 in the Nebraska Union. Read more>>

Students, faculty and staff members demonstrated support for ending rape on campus and bringing awareness to sexual violence on college campuses with a march through the Nebraska campus sponsored by PREVENT and Voices of Hope on Thursday, April 13. Read more>>
