A 2016 report from the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln shows Greek members possess higher retention and graduation rates than their peers.

The university retained 90.1 percent of first-year students who were fraternity or sorority members in fall 2015, a higher rate than the campus average of 82.2 percent. Similarly, the Greek community's six-year graduation rate for the fall 2010 cohort was 80.78 percent –above the university average for the same period at 66.7 percent. Read more>>

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has named George “Sam” Goodin as director of Services for Students with Disabilities. Goodin, director of Disability Support Services at Southern Illinois University, will start his new role April 3. Read more>>

Ntshoowa Grace Abraham, a 2015 participant in the Study of the U.S. Institute on Civic Engagement, visited the University Health Center with a swollen left knee and was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer that strikes children and teens. Physicians say the early diagnosis likely saved her leg. It also led Abraham to become a champion for African children with cancer. Read more>>

Margaret Silhasek, a member of the Nebraska Water Ski Club and senior broadcasting and economics double-major from Byron, Minn., received the National Collegiate Water Ski Association (NCWSA)’s female Outstanding Leadership Award at the USA Water Ski awards banquet in Lakeland, FL. Read more>>

The Officer of Fraternity and Sorority Life hosted the eighth annual Greek Preview on Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5, attracting more than 900 students and guests to campus. Designed to introduce high school seniors to Greek life, the event invites future huskers to learn about fraternities and sororities, and to understand the recruitment processes. Read more>>
