Take a class and get the 8:30 PM dance free! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hustle dancing originated in New York and quickly spread out to the rest of the United States and the world in the early 1970s. Known as Disco, then Disco Hustle and now Hustle, this dance inspired it's own unique style of music and recording artists of the 70s. In addition men and women enjoyed getting dressed up to go dancing and sexy yet elegant fashion trends came back with a fury. Hustle clubs were known as Discotheques (French for record library) and the music was continuously beat mixed from one record to another on turntables. Now, in this current era of dancing, Hustle turns 40 years young and is still very much alive and well. Hustle conventions and competitions are held monthly on the East Coast. Cesar Ricaurte (AKA Mr. Hustle) started dancing Hustle and began his career as a nightclub DJ in the summer of 1974. Cesar is one of a few remaining DJ's who spun records and danced Hustle in a dance era where where some clubs stayed open till 5am. Cesar currently DJ's in Los Angeles and San Diego for Hustle dance nights and continues to teach Hustle dancing in private and group classes. In addition, Cesar teaches Argentine Tango with his long time partner of 23 years, Ms. Patricia Reeves who is also a long time Hustle dancer, performer and instructor.
