HYACKS BACK IN THE FINAL FOUR

For the 3rd straight year, and 6th time in the past 11 years, the Varsity Hyacks will play in the AAA Provincial semi-finals, thanks to a thrilling 19-14 win over Mt Douglas on Friday afternoon at Mercer Stadium. Taran Birdi's interception and 46 yard return set up Sammy Sidhu's first of 2 TDs on the day. In the 2nd half both Sidhu and Lucas Sabau each had TD runs of over 70 yards, to give the Hyacks a 19-7 lead. Sidhu finished with 172 yards on 16 carries as the Hyacks rushed for 323 yards as a team. Defensively Kinsale Philip and Broxx Comia led the team with 8 tackles each, while Birdi added 6 and Sidhu and Isaiah James each had 5.

With the win, the Hyacks improve to 10-1 and advance to face South Delta for the 2nd time this season, this time at BC Place Stadium on Saturday, Nov 25th at 5pm. The winner will play in the Subway Bowl on Dec 2nd. For advance tickets to Saturday's game please purchase online here and contact Marilyn Davis in the NWSS Sigma office for pickup.

All five Hyacks will be honored at the Subway Bowl All-Star Awards Banquet on Tues, Nov 28th at the Italian Cultural Center.

JV SEASON COMES TO AN END

A very positive season for the JV team came to an end, as the team suffered its first loss of the season, in the AAA Provincial quarter finals against Lord Tweedsmuir last Thursday in Cloverdale. The Hyacks moved the ball well in the first half, led by Greyson Planinsic, Mahtab Garcha and Dominic Racher, but ultimately couldn't find the endzone. The JVs finished the season with an 8-1-1 overall record and won the AAA Central Division.

YOUTH FOOTBALL

ATOM FLAG:
Braving the elements, the Hyacks fought through the wet and cold to defeat the Westside Bears 22-6. AJ Meltzer ran for 2 first half TD's and converted two kick PATs. Jett Abel ran for the game-clinching second half TD score. The running game was successful thanks to receivers Mathew Kastelein, Eli Niska, and Gavin Domaas, who provided crucial blocking. On defense Brody Busch, Justin Wang and Nickolas Weeks limited the opponent's offense by providing a strong pass rush. The Hyacks will now move on to the GSL Championship game this Sunday.
