HELP WANTED
With the season just around the corner, the Varsity Hyacks are looking for help in a number of areas off the field. The most pressing need is for additional game night staff and poster distribution. If you are interested please contact Barb Drake at: [email protected] or coach Lalji to get more details. But there are a number of smaller roles also available. Our program has always received outstanding parent and community support, so we expect 2016 will be no different. We look forward to hearing from you.

HYACKS RETURN HOME FRIDAY NIGHT
After a bye week, the Hyacks will return home to Mercer Stadium where they also hope to return to the win column, as they will take on Vancouver College in a key league game for both teams. The Hyacks have had a strong two weeks of practice and will be expecting improved defensive performances from a number of key players, starting with defensive linemen Yanni Angelopoulos and Isaiah James, along with linebackers Connor Pattison and Trew Dancey. Both teams are currently 1-1 in league play. The Irish defeated the Hyacks 28-12 in the AAA Provincial semi-finals last year at BC Place.

Even a night of heavy rain couldn't stop the Hyacks from coming up with a hard-fought 32-28 win over Notre Dame. Kinsale Philip found tight end Evan Nolli for a 16 yard TD reception. Later in the first quarter Philip scored on a 2 yard QB sneak, which gave the Hyacks a 16-14 lead. The home team wouldn't trail again, thanks to Michael Zhang who scored on an 8 yard run in the 3rd quarter, before Evan Pattison scored from 25 yards out to make it 32-22. The JVs are currently 4-1 overall (2-1 in league play) and will travel to Vancouver College for a game this Thursday.

YOUTH FOOTBALL
JR BANTAM:
A second straight win, this time a 25-6 decision over Vancouver at Mercer Stadium, improving their record to 3-2-1. Andros Dancey again scored 4 TDs, with Gus Oliver leading the way on the offensive line with several "pancake" blocks. Aiden Sattler led a dominant D-line performance with a pair of sacks, while Gabriel Bastos ran well and kicked a pair of PATs.
PEE WEE:
In a tight Defensive battle, the Hyacks fell 6-0 to the Westside Reds. There were a number of standout defensive performances, led by Jack Nyang, Gavin Garret and Issac Shirshac. Offensively, Marcus Savela completed passes to Greg Palmer and Jaxson Domville.
ATOM:
The Atoms fell 26-0 to North Surrey. Despite the loss the Hyacks played well, with multiple long drives deep into T-birds territory, but couldn't convert them into points. Gianni Bosa, EJ Hansraj and Lachlan Mackay turned in solid efforts on defense while Oliver Romero ran a kickoff back 40 yards to the 15 yard line. Benicio Hageleit had another strong game running the ball. The Atom Hyacks will play in a flag game this Friday night at BC Place prior to the BC Lions game.
FLAG BLACK
The Tyke Black team defeated the Richmond Raiders 33-0. Demitri Biniaris and Dylan Jones both scored a pair of touchdowns and Alexander Biniaris added one. The defense was tight with key support from Jai-shon Llewellyn and George Paterakis.
FLAG ORANGE:
Lost 20-6 to Coquitlam. Keegan Wilson opened the scoring for the Hyacks with a 30 yard run. Christhony Dela Cruz and Jacob Armstrong stood out defensively.
