Police, Firefighter, Civilian and Volunteer of the Year honored at ceremony

Novi pride was on full display last week as the men and women of the Novi Police and Fire Departments were honored for their exceptional service to the community over the past year.

Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police David Molloy proudly recognized his team and members of the community who made a difference and worked tirelessly to keep Novi safe.

Taking home top honors for the night were Kristie Gruenwald (Police Officer of the Year), GerylAnn Garris (Civilian of the Year), Dan Schultz (Firefighter of the Year) and Evan Lacy (Volunteer of the Year).

Get your car seat inspected for free
Free car seat inspections, 9-noon on Saturday, March 25 at Fire Station #4

Take advantage of the opportunity to ensure your child is riding properly in their car seat by having it inspected or installed by a certified technician from the Novi Fire Department.

Techs will be available from 9-noon on Saturday, March 25 at Fire Station #4, 49375 Ten Mile Road. No appointments are necessary, and checks should only take about 25 minutes to complete.
 
Please bring the owner's manual for the vehicle, the car seat manual, and, if possible, the child who will use the safety seat. If you would like to make an appointment you can do so at cityofnovi.org or by calling 248.735.5673.

The City of Novi is looking for dedicated and team-oriented employees to join our team.

With spring right around the corner, seasonal opportunities abound, ranging from Camp Counselor, Lifeguard, Parking Booth Attendant, Park Laborers and Supervisors, Novi Youth Assistance Summer Day Camp Counselors and Field Operations Laborer. The Novi Fire Department also is looking to add Paid-on-Call and Auxiliary Firefighters to its ranks. Both positions are part-time and respond to alarms or requests for service, acts in emergencies such as storms, medical emergencies, extinguishing fires and performs service work as directed. Yard waste pickup starts April 3
Please wait until the first week of April to put yard waste at the curb 

Mother Nature obviously doesn't know what season it is, but spring is supposedly coming soon and that means residents on the City's Waste Management contract can start placing their yard waste at the curb.

Yard waste will be picked up starting April 3 and run through the Friday of the last week in November. If you have already collected yard waste, please hold on to it until April. The facility where Waste Management takes its yard waste is not open during the winter.

Yard waste cannot be mixed with trash for disposal. Please put yard waste into a paper yard waste sack or clearly marked container with handles, no more than 35 gallons in capacity and no heavier than 60 pounds.

Yard waste is grass clippings, garden debris, leaves, shrubs and bush trimmings (under 4 inches in diameter). Brushes and branches cannot exceed 4 feet in length, must be bundled using string, bundles cannot exceed 18 inches around, bundles cannot weigh more than 60 pounds. 

Free, self-adhesive yard waste stickers can be obtained from the Novi Department of Public Services or the Novi Civic Center.
