"From a small seed a mighty trunk may grow."
- Aeschylus
Ancient Greek Tragedian

Jack planted himself in the lives of all who knew and loved him.  The roots of his happiness and steadfast hope continue to grow, blossom, and bear fruit because of our supporters and believers committed to nurturing and supporting our worthy cause.

Help us GROW!
The I Back Jack Foundation was formed with the belief that people working together have the power and spirit to make a difference.

As author Sandra Kring wrote, "The tiny seed knew that in order to grow, it needed to be dropped in the dirt, covered with darkness, and struggle to see the light."

Our seed (the Foundation) sees the light and since the first Back to School Event seven years ago, the Foundation has raised $1.25 million. Yes, $1.25 million.  While we take a moment to relish and celebrate that achievement, we know we still must tend to our "seed" and GROW.

On Monday, September 14, the 7th Annual Back to School event will be held at Chenequa Country Club in Hartland.  As you can see from the sneak peek of the invitation below, this year we are focusing on growth.

Despite the need for progress, childhood cancer awareness and financial support has not reached the same national level of support as adult cancers.  By growing and continuing to raise awareness and funds, the I Back Jack Foundation will continue to provide incredible, powerful, and targeted resources to meet the urgent needs for novel treatments that are not only potent to improve survival, but also have limited toxicity to enhance overall quality of life and limit late effects.  The Foundation will also continue to raise awareness and fund cutting-edge trials and treatment options in our unified fight for children.

This relentless pursuit for cures leads the I Back Jack Foundation to back research, inspire hope, and, ultimately, defeat childhood cancer.

So mark your calendars for Monday, September 14th!  Join us and help us GROW!

Pediatric Cancer Treatment Approved by FDA
Last month, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced it had approved a pediatric cancer drug, Unituxin.  The drug, designed to treat neuroblastoma , is only the third drug to receive initial FDA approval for a pediatric cancer in the last 20 years.

Unituxin is an antibody that binds to the surface of neuroblastoma cells.  The drug is being approved for use as part of a multimodality regimen, including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy for patients who achieved at least a particle response to prior first-line multiage, multi modality therapy.

"Unituxin marks the first approval for a therapy aimed specifically for the treatment of patients with high-risk neuroblastoma," said Richard Azdur, M.D., Director of the Office of Hematology and Oncology Products in the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.  "Unituxin fulfills a critical need by providing a treatment option that prolongs survival in children with high-risk neuroblastoma."
