I Can't Fix It! 3/6/16
John 12:8 (KJV)
8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.
Deuteronomy 15:11 (KJV)
11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.
Sadly, but TRUTHFULLY, Jesus spoke the above Words:
"
FOR THE POOR ALWAYS YE SHALL HAVE WITH YOU....!"
Ain't that the truth!!??
Everywhere one cares to look and SEE, the poor are among us!
WE live in a sinful and fallen world, corrupted by evil men and women, too many of them in power!
Most people are familiar with the words of John Emirech Edward Dalberg-Action, who so famously said:
"
POWER TENDS TO CORRUPT, AND ABSOLUTE POWER CORRUPTS ABSOLUTELY!"
But few can quote his words immediately following:
"
GREAT MEN ARE ALMOST ALWAYS BAD MEN!!"
SELAH-THINK ABOUT THAT!
The older I become, the more times this phrase leaves my mouth:
"
I CAN'T FIX IT!!!!"
I have had the HONOR and privilege of standing over countless caskets-UNABLE to "fix it!!"
I (nor you) can alleviate ALL the human suffering in the world, including those we love most!!!!!
I have one spare bed and bedroom in my home, but few care to stay long in it!
My beautiful daughter Amanda cannot sleep entire nights and rare is a day or night of peace and quite in my house.
This is a CROSS that my wife and I GLADLY accept, but it is not for the fainthearted!!
Last week, my oldest granddaughter was summoned to the doctor's office.
She is pregnant and the baby boy is due in July, 2016.
In routine tests, an abnormality was discovered that indicated the baby was at high risk of being born Down Syndrome.
Thank God the further testing revealed a normal pregnancy but the question remains
"
BEGGED TO BE ANSWER!"
What does a mother decide in such cases????
What does one do in the face or adversity and uncertainty?
Beloved, some things WE cannot fix!!!!
Some things, some times REQUIRE absolute "BLIND" FAITH!!!
Life makes NO SENSE and no amount of money or effort can "fix it!"
As I was writing last week's sermon at McDonald's, out of the corner of my eyes I watch a gentleman enter the establishment.
I quickly noted the bulging back pack he wore, and watched as he carefully spread his things out on an adjoining table.
He went to the counter and soon returned with a single hamburger and then retrieved a plastic canister of water from his back pack.
God had already alerted my heart of his need, but I needed to finish my sermon first.
Then, BY THE GRACE OF GOD, was I able to speak lovingly to him and I had the JOY and PRIVILEGE of BUYING him a FULL meal-coke included!!!
I PRAYED with him and gave him a copy of my book and a few coins I had stashed in my car-I rarely carry cash anymore.
BUT, beloved, that was all I COULD do!
I gave him my phone number and he DID call me a few nights later to tell me my words and actions had a positive impact on his life.
He had changed his plans and was returning to where he had family and was encouraged to try again-PRAISE THE LORD!
I tell you this little story, not to brag on what "I" had done, but to emphasize my point!!
Acts 3:1-6 (KJV)
1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
Peter and John could NOT-on their own power- "FIX IT!!!"

SILVER AND GOLD HAVE I NONE; BUT SUCH AS I HAVE GIVE I THEE!!!!"
TODAY, maybe YOU cannot "FIX IT!!"
WE can only GIVE what we got-after that, there is no more I/WE can do!!
TODAY, take heart and hope in what YOU can do!!!
