Scott's son, Dalton, learning mindfulness through Zen Swordplay and marble tricks with expert Jack Steward during Family Camp 2015 |
I'm Scott from New Jersey. I had been having chance experiences with the Tibetan yogi and saint, Milarepa, for years.
Two years ago, while on my first retreat, our meditation teacher recited one of Milarepa's many poems.
Instantly, I felt a kinship with Milarepa as do many from all over the world.
I read through the site thoroughly and saw there was a need of assistance with their social media presence; I volunteered. I'm so very glad I did.
Via phone calls and emails, no face-to-face interaction for 18 months, I formed nice relationships with the team at Milarepa Center. Just this past summer 2015, my family and I finally visited beautiful Milarepa Center in Barnet, Vermont on two separate occasions, the Memorial Day weekend working retreat, and the Family Camp in August. It was no surprise that we felt instantly at home, and I solidified my friendships with the team members and other retreaters.
Milarepa Center is a special place full of loving energy. I am glad to be a part of the Milarepa community, and we're looking forward to our next visit. All the time my son is asking about our return. He loved being at Milarepa Center and especially the Family Camp.
