ABOUT US

Founded in 1994, the Immunization Action Coalition of Washington (IACW), a program of WithinReach, works to improve the health of the community by minimizing the incidence of vaccine preventable diseases through the optimal use of immunizations across the lifespan. Our priorities for 2016 include vaccine hesitancy; access to immunizations; provider education; and special populations.

2016 LAMINATED, POCKET-SIZED CHILDHOOD IMMUNIZATION SCHEDULES ARE HERE!
2016 SCHEDULE
IACW's 2016 version of our laminated, pocket-sized childhood immunization schedules are now available! Convenient and durable, these schedules are a great reference for providers to help keep children on track with their immunizations, including those who need to catch up and those who may have special healthcare needs, as the complete footnotes are included. Each year, IACW provides them free of charge to healthcare providers across Washington. This year, we are able to do so through the generous support of the Group Health Foundation.

The Group Health Foundation (GHF) is proud to support the updated immunization schedule for 16,000 physicians and other care providers across the state. For many years, the GHF Childhood Immunization Initiative has advocated for and supported childhood vaccinations as an investment in prevention and good health. GHF has invested $5.2 million in recent years to promote immunizations - from providing no-cost vaccines to more than 17,000 children to training parents how to talk with their peers about vaccine hesitancy. The Group Health Foundation has been tireless in its efforts to promote immunizations, and their partnership and support for this useful immunization schedule are invaluable.

To order schedules for your clinic, send an email to [email protected] with your desired quantity and mailing address. Please keep in mind that these schedules are very detailed and include a lot of fine print - they are not patient-friendly and are intended solely for healthcare providers.
Varicella vaccination requirements for some school children have changed for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year. This fall, all children in grades K-12 must have received two doses of varicella vaccine, or must meet one or more of these conditions: evidence of immunity, provider verification of varicella disease history, or an approved exemption.

The two-dose requirement is new this coming school year for children in 9th-12th grades. All kids in lower grades already have to meet this requirement. Some parents may be unaware of this change, so please let families know! More information is available from the Washington State Department of Health

National Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) is an annual observance to highlight the importance of protecting infants from vaccine-preventable diseases and celebrate the achievements of immunization programs and their partners in promoting healthy communities.

Since 1994, hundreds of communities across the United States have joined together to celebrate the critical role vaccination plays in protecting our children, communities, and public health. This year, IACW will be celebrating at our quarterly meeting with a special guest speaker, and we'll recognize IACW and CDC award winners!

NIIW, set for April 16-23, 2016, will be celebrated as part of World Immunization Week (WIW), an initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO). During WIW, all six WHO regions, including more than 180 Member States, territories, and areas, will simultaneously promote immunization, advance equity in the use of vaccines and universal access to vaccination services, and enable cooperation on cross-border immunization activities. Learn more and get ideas for how you can celebrate NIIW, including web banners and social media content, from CDC
