Founded in 1994, the Immunization Action Coalition of Washington (IACW), a program of WithinReach, works to improve the health of the community by minimizing the incidence of vaccine preventable diseases through the optimal use of immunizations across the lifespan. Our priorities for 2016 include vaccine hesitancy; access to immunizations; provider education; and special populations.

JOIN US FOR OUR JULY QUARTERLY MEETING: IMMUNIZING AT WASHINGTON SCHOOLS |
Wednesday, July 20th, 12-2pm
Please join us for our quarterly meeting on Wednesday, July 20. It will be a packed agenda, with an update from Jan Hicks-Thomson on vaccine storage and handling, including a discussion of the nasal spray flu vaccine.
We have an exciting panel discussing different models of providing school-located immunizations, including Carolyn Cook of Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department; Alexandra Hayes of Spokane Regional Health District; and Sara Rigel of Public Health-Seattle & King County.
Our Healthcare Provider Education Committee will be meeting in the same room before the quarterly meeting, from 10:00am-11:30am. The HPV Task Force will meet afterwards, from 2:00pm-3:30pm.
Please note: We will be at the Shoreline Conference Center, not the Tukwila Community Center!

OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTICIPATE IN IACW COMMITTEES |
Participating in a committee is a great way to network and work together on fun immunization projects that wouldn't be possible without collaboration. We welcome new members at any time! Right now, we are recruiting new members especially for these two committees:
The Public Awareness and Education Committee works to increase and sustain public awareness and education about the importance of immunizing across the lifespan, especially in pockets of greatest need. We are currently working on a social media campaign to promote flu and Tdap immunization for pregnant women. We meet quarterly on the second Wednesday of the month from 12pm-2pm, with our next meeting on July 13.
The Healthcare Provider Education Committee will work to provide immunizers with tools and information to implement best practices in providing immunization services.
Our first project will be to develop a series of webinars. We will meet quarterly on the third Wednesday of the month from 10:00am-11:30am, with our first meeting on July 20.
