ABOUT US

Founded in 1994, the Immunization Action Coalition of Washington (IACW), a program of WithinReach, works to improve the health of the community by minimizing the incidence of vaccine preventable diseases through the optimal use of immunizations across the lifespan. Our priorities for 2016 include vaccine hesitancy; access to immunizations; provider education; and special populations.

NOMINATE YOUR IMMUNIZATION HEROES BY FEBRUARY 5!
Champion Award Logo
We'd like to share multiple opportunities to recognize immunization heroes. Firstly, nominations are open for the IACW Advocate, IACW Collaborator, and CDC Childhood Immunization Champion awards! We are partnering with the Washington State Department of Health to have one streamlined nomination form for all awards this year, which you can find here. Please consider nominating an awardee and sharing this opportunity with partners and constituents. Awardees will be recognized at our April Quarterly Meeting, during National Infant Immunization Week. Nominations are due February 5th!

Secondly, have you heard of Immunize Washington? Providers can submit their immunization coverage report from the registry and will be recognized if they have achieved at least 70% coverage for the childhood or adolescent series. They'll receive a window cling and certificate signed by the Secretary of Health! Details and instructions, including a link to the nomination form, are available at www.doh.wa.gov/immunizewa. Nominations for Immunize WA close in March.
Take A Stand logo
Our partners at the Immunization Action Coalition will be holding a free training in Seattle on March 15th. Take A Stand™ is a new, national education and training program aimed at improving adult immunization coverage by increasing the use of standing orders programs (SOPs) in medical practices. The project was developed by the Immunization Action Coalition (IAC) and sponsored by Pfizer, Inc.

Strong evidence supports the use of SOPs to improve immunization rates in the adult population. Their use is recommended by numerous public health organizations, federal agencies, and provider associations. Unfortunately, standing orders are not being adequately utilized for adult immunizations.

The Seattle workshop is scheduled for:
Tuesday, March 15, 10 am - 2:30 pm
The Westin Seattle
1900 Fifth Avenue, Seattle, WA 98101

Due to anticipated demand, IAC is asking that no more than two persons from a practice attend, and that one of the two participants be someone who has the practice authority to implement standing orders following the workshop.

In addition, IAC is offering a year of direct support to a practice following its attendance at the workshop. You can learn more about the workshops and register at www.standingorders.org
