IAWF Women's Leadership Conference in Orange County

On October 30, 2016, IAWF held its 11th Women's Leadership Conference in beautiful Irvine, California. The conference's theme of "Building Bridges" aimed to emphasize diversity and urged all who attended to transcend age, gender, and religious beliefs in order to come together to celebrate the strength, grace, and resilience of Iranian-American women all over the globe.
IAWF acknowledged the unparalleled contributions of the Honorable Judge Shahla S. Sabet, recipient of the Trailblazer Award, for her lifelong dedication to justice. Mrs. Mahvash Yazdi was recognized for her achievements in the Information Technology sector. She was also honored for her hard work and dedication and received the Career Achievement Award. Also, we offered our sincere appreciation to Dr. Ahmad Mesbah, recipient of the Community Leadership Award, for his continued commitment to the success and growth of the Iranian American community.
Panels and workshops featured speakers including Parisa Khosravi (Keynote speaker), former CNN Senior Executive, Founder and President of Payam Global Strategies LLC, and many other accomplished women.
Attendees were uplifted and inspired by successful women from all walks of life to work hard, pursue their dreams, and show the world how strong Iranian-American women are.
The Iranian American Women Foundation would like to thank all the speakers, exhibitors, participants and specially the OC Planning Committee and volunteers for joining IAWF and making the event possible with their great support.

IAWF Women's Leadership Conference in Washington D.C.

On November 13, 2016 over 500 participants from Washington D.C., to New York, to Tehran, joined us for our 12th Women's Leadership Conference. Our Master of Ceremony, Asieh Namdar, began the conference with introducing the memorable keynote speaker Parisa Khosravi. Khosravi's eloquent and inspiring speech spoke to the importance of rooting in who you are and carrying your strength forward in the face of adversary.
Khosravi's speech was followed by the brilliant ladies on the "Rising Stars" panel. This crowd-favorite panel opened our eyes to the wisdom and achievements of the next generation of Iranian American women.  The passion of each panelist was contagious, as they inspired the crowd to reach for their dreams.
Our 12th conference concluded with the intriguing "Iranian American Women in the White House and the State Department" panel. The panelists spoke about their diverse experiences in government positions and working amongst America's highest-level decision-makers. The ladies shared their stories and encouraged the crowd to get active and engaged within their communities.

The Iranian American Women Foundation would like to extend its appreciation to all our conference speakers, exhibitors, volunteers, and participants for making this event a truly memorable experience. This event would not have been possible without the dedication of our wonderful D.C. Planning Committee. IAWF is grateful for their hard work and commitment that made the event a success.  Please see the pictures of the event here
IAWF NorCal "After Party"

On October 29th, the IAWF NorCal chapter hosted a contemporary art exhibition curated by Fouladi Projects. "After Party" featured paintings, photography and video installations by Afshin Chizari, Anahita Ghazvinizadeh, Babak Kazemi, Elham Rokni and Aram Tahmasebi.

Award-winning filmmaker Anahita Ghazvinizadeh attended the exhibition as the chapter's special guest, speaking to the evocative interactive visualizations that the intersection of art, mixed media and cinema bring to contemporary Iranian arts and culture.

"After Party" refers to events that transpired after The Iranian Revolution. The revolution started with a significant amount of excitement, however, many changes in a relatively short period of time have shaped a complex post revolutionary experience. The pieces of art in the exhibition were created by artists born in Iran after 1979. Some of the artists grew up during the eight year-long Iran Iraq war, while others have memories of immigration and dislocation. Now, there is the hopeful and rebellious new Internet generation, the Iranian millennials, that the world has yet to see.
