PASTOR FOR PASTORS

Pastors have one of the most difficult yet important jobs in the world. As they lead their congregations to tell people about Jesus and demonstrate His love in their communities, they play an essential role in penetrating lostness in North America. Yet pastors today face attacks on many fronts.

  • 1,500 pastors leave the ministry every month.
  • Half of pastors' marriages end in divorce.
  • 70 percent of pastors constantly fight depression.
"Based on statistics from The Barna Group, Focus on the Family and Fuller Seminary

Because the North American Mission Board realizes the health of local churches rises and falls on its leadership, we want to help. NAMB seeks to come alongside pastors to help strengthen their relationships with God, their family, their peers and their congregation. Here are some of the tools NAMB and other recommended ministries offer:

CALL TO PRAYER: For the generations ahead

It is very likely our children and our children's children will bear the brunt of the full wrath of a society that has forgotten God, unless we see a massive spiritual awakening that stirs our nation once again. Roger ("Sing") Oldham tells us how to pray for these vulnerable descendants.

We are convinced more than ever that in these days God is summoning His people to pray, to stand firm in faith and united prayer until we see God bring forth His blessing and transformation in our cities, communities, our world. Now is the time to seek God's face; now is the time to seek His kingdom.

Here is what people have said as they have prayed through the Seek God for the City prayer guide:

*  Our church has used Seek God for the City for many years now. Our folks look forward to this every year. It has been a blessing to be part of a wider prayer movement. Several folks use it all year long by just starting over every 40 days.

*  Seek God has greatly encouraged us and infused us with an anticipation of what God is doing and going to do in our midst.

*  It really drew the body together. Many churches, radio stations, and organizations were involved praying together.

*  We always use the Seek God for the City prayer guide for our church. The prayers are powerful, helping us to unite our prayers and focus together in powerful, biblical, hope-filled prayers. I also really appreciate the focus on different people groups and sectors of society. It is a powerful tool for prayer.

*  I love this prayer guide and I've used others before. I'm always strengthened by the big scope and instructed on HOW to pray more effectively. I use it, I refer to it, I share from it, I read all the intro and extra helps, and I keep it for a long time afterward!

Pray with Paul for the Church

All the believers were one in heart and mind. Acts 4:32

Join with IBSA members across the state as we take a prayer journey with the Apostle Paul.
  • 12 monthly themes in 2014
  • Prayed daily as we begin each day
  • Devoting a week of praying for our personal growth, then our pastors, a week for our churches, and a week for the work of IBSA across the state
What benefits will we reap by repeating the prayers of Paul?
  • Paul teaches us the power of praying scripture back to the Lord
  • Paul's written prayers train us to pray beyond convenience and consumption to consecration and commitment
  • These apostolic prayers lead us into trinitarian praying: to the Father, in the name of Christ, by the filling and empowering of the Spirit
  • Paul reminds us to pray with faith, hope and love for the Bride of Christ

So:
-each time you pray from the scripture, ask the Holy Spirit what to  focus on
-memorize all or part of the scripture by repeating phrases that best  express your  passion as you pray
-write out the scripture then write out your response prayer
-read and pray the scripture in corporate prayer times; classes,  groups, meetings
-disciple your children at one family meal
