A UNIQUE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
Help ICAN bring "Puppies with Purpose" into our training program.

Play a significant role in the breeding program with ICAN by helping us whelp a brand new litter of puppies!

It is critical for service dogs to have the right temperament and health, and we are in need of caring volunteers to provide a loving home to a breeding female, and to give a wonderful start to her puppies who will go on to provide increased independence to our clients.

If you think you might be interested in joining ICAN on this journey Continue Reading.

ICAN WELCOMES 48 PAWS WITH A PURPOSE!
Holly & Kash Proud Parents!
ICAN is celebrating Holly's recent delivery of twelve beautiful Golden Retrievers! And daddy, Kash, has been  handing out the milk bones taking credit for adding more celebrity pups to the ICAN family! (Kash is famous for his Petsmart ads and doing mattress commercials on TV in the Northwest!). After ten hours of delivery, seven boys and five girls were born. Needless to say, we are deeply thankful to Dr. Jamie, Nancy, Mary Lee, Ginny, Sara Lyn and everyone who participated in the whelping. Keep checking ICAN's Facebook for updates on these gorgeous pups in the coming weeks! If you are interested in sponsoring one of these pups, which gets you naming rights, please contact Dino. Congratulations Holly & Kash!
DEAR ICAN...
A LETTER FROM AN ICAN HANDLER
ICAN Handler, Richard with Renn
Moving forward...Making a difference
I would like to start by thanking ICAN and the staff at Pendleton Correctional Facility (PCF) for this opportunity. My name is R.E. Simmons and I have been a part of the ICAN program for almost two years now. I remember jumping at the chance to be in the program with just a vague idea of what was in store. The first time I watched the video of the canine graduation at IWP, I knew this was what I wanted and needed to do, to finally be able to make a difference. I remember when ICAN delivered the first puppies. It was surreal. They were trusting us with such an incredibly important task that would someday change somebody's life. So the plans were made and off we went stumbling around like we knew what we were doing. Continue Reading
FAREWELL TO JAMMER
On March 10th, ICAN lost a very special member of our family... our beautiful friend named Jammer. He was not only an ICAN Facility Dog for Lori at a long-term assisted living facility, but he was also ICAN's stud dog to twelve litters and 103 pups. We pay tribute to him on our website with the many photos and stories given to us on how much he deeply touched people's lives.

In honor of his legacy, ICAN has established the The Jammer Paw Print Fund for those wishing to make a donation in memory of Jammer, their pet or someone who has lost one. All funds will go toward training more service dogs just like Jammer.

We invite you to read and learn more about the legacy of Jammer at A Tribute to Jammer.

FAREWELL AND CONGRATULATIONS...

FAREWELL... to a special ICAN volunteer, Vickie McWatters. She recently moved back to Phoenix, Arizona so she could be closer to her elderly parents and family. During her time at ICAN, she wore many hats - Furlough Volunteer, Puppy Starter, while managing special projects for ICAN. She was extremely dedicated to our program and we will truly miss her. Thank you Vickie for your generous contribution. We wish you the very best!

CONGRATULATIONS...to Judy Tempel, another special ICAN volunteer, who was given an unique opportunity to spend nine months in Sierra Leone, Africa. Judy will oversee the storage and distribution of Ebola vaccine that is being used in a clinical trial conducted by the country's health ministry and the CDC. We are very proud of what she is doing and although we miss her dearly, ICAN wishes Judy a safe and heartfelt journey on this very special mission.

PUPPY LOVE VALENTINE'S DAY A HUGE SUCCESS!

Puppy Love Valentine's Day 2015 was a huge success! ICAN dogs surprised children and adults as they distributed over 600 gift boxes and dog art canvases throughout the city of Indianapolis.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our sponsors, Curran Architecture, Indianapolis Yellow Cab and Three Dog Bakery, for their generous support; to WTHR and IndyStyle for having us on-air, and to all our ICAN volunteers - the committee and over fifty volunteer drivers for making it happen! In addition, a special thanks goes to Walker Eggs, the ICAN Handlers and the Culinary Class and Community Outreach Program at IWP for their incredible support ... baking more than 5,000 cookies and brownie bites, making the infinity scarves and assembling all of the gift boxes.

Last, a special thank you to our Cupid gift box sponsors; Sweet Jojo Frozen Yogurt & Cupcake, Simply Sweet Corporate and Custom Gifts, Nancy Noel, Joni Kahn, Sharp Print Center, Shirl Henderson, Judith Tempel, Ann Jansons, Melissa McCoy and Bee Coffee Roasters.

Thank you for helping us make this year the best year ever!
