ICCE LOOKS FORWARD
TO YOUR INVOLVEMENT IN 2017

As 2016 draws to an end, ICCE has a lot to look forward to in 2017. Celebrating 100 years as an organization is a great accomplishment. We continue to grow and add new opportunities. Our members have the opportunity to learn from one another through our regional meetings, conferences, travel, webinars and by just picking up the phone and calling to get input from one another.

To sum it up here is a note from one of ICCE's past chairs on how he, as a long time Chamber Executive, benefited from ICCE and what it did for him as he moved forward in his career.

Larry J. Waller, ICCE Chair 1986
"I was sorry to have missed the 100 year celebration dinner for ICCE. If I had attended it would have been a great opportunity to tell those in attendance what the organization meant to my chamber career.

When I first attended the meetings I learned a great deal from the big city chamber executives that also attended, such as Jack Wesenburg from Des Moines, John Ireland, Sioux City, Larry Owen, Cedar Rapids and others. This is one reason that I returned to Iowa. I would attend the meetings with staff in order to provide any information that the younger execs might be looking for.

Then of course when I became Chair of ACCE and ICCE Chair, the Iowa Execs attended in mass. ICCE continues to mean a great deal to me even in retirement. I am pleased to see the continued opportunities for all the ICCE members and what it does for each of those execs as they move forward with their career.

Congratulations to ICCE."

Even in retirement, ICCE still means a great deal to those who helped lead us to where we are today. I encourage you to continue to participate not only as the Chamber Executive but also all your staff. We are here to help you, to help make your Chamber and staff stronger, and to learn and grow.

Happy Holidays to all of you from your ICCE Board and Staff.

Preliminary Injunction
Blocking Department of Labor's
Overtime Rule

At ICCE's fall conference we heard from Melissa Wright, Community Outreach & Resource Planning Specialist on the Fair Labor Standards Act. A lot has happened since her presentation. As a Chamber Executive and Chamber Staff you need to keep informed on what is happening.

The District Court in Sherman, Texas has granted a preliminary injunction blocking the Department of Labor's new overtime regulation nationwide. The preliminary injunction stops the rule from taking effect on December 1st. Updated information will continue to come from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and ICCE or if you wish to speak with Melissa Wright you can reach her at wright.melissa@dol.gov.
