There are two components to a successful chamber- a strong staff and a strong board. The mission of ICCE is to enhance the industry and profession of chambers of commerce in Iowa. We're focused on ensuring both the staff and board have the resources they need.

We've combined both of these audiences into one great day at our upcoming conference. Mick Fleming, President of American Chamber of Commerce Executives, will be joining us and speaking to the Horizons Initiative that looks at the future of chambers. I think his message will resonant with everyone in attendance and challenge us all to be proactive in deciding how we will embrace our future.

By providing additional training focused on the work of the chamber, we are creating stronger organizations. The more we can engage them, the more invested they will be and the more actively they will shape its future. The results are the same if you put this same focus on staff.

As my tenure as President of ICCE winds down I would like to thank each of the ICCE board members. They are a very dedicated board. I am proud of the 100-year legacy we are fortunate to uphold. The past several years we have worked to create more opportunities to take our chambers to the next level. I look forward to our continued work. I also look forward to new members joining the board and adding their voices to the work we do, please consider this opportunity if it comes your way.

I have to thank Shar for the work that she and the staff at Dowell Management do for us. They provide extraordinary efforts to keep us moving forward.

Finally, I thank all of you. Chambers are nothing without their members. The work we do to keep the Iowa business community successful is extraordinary. Thank you for engaging in the programs to help your chambers grow business here at home.

The One Day Conference/Annual Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 29, 2016 and is  hosted by the Des Moines East/South Chamber of Commerce.  The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Des Moines Airport. 

Featured speaker Mick Fleming, President of ACCE. 

Mick Fleming serves the needs of 1,400 chambers of commerce and related organizations.  His staff provides information, professional development, certifications, employee benefits plans, conference, consulting and networking opportunities for community leaders throughout the United States and Canada.  Mick's diverse career has included teaching, coaching, publishing, communications, management, marketing and lobbying positions.  Mick is a sought out speaker for all organizations throughout the country, and ICCE is extremely lucky to have him speak to our members and volunteers at our March 29th conference.  

The conference is an opportunity for you to invite your board members and volunteers.  This gives your members a great opportunity to better understand what ICCE is all about and meet other Chambers and volunteers throughout the state. 

Also, during this year's conference ICCE will be celebrating its 100 Year Anniversary, Governor Branstad will present ICCE with a proclimation, recognizing ICCE's 100 Year Celebration. Scholarships will be presented and introduction of 2016/2017 board members.  

         



Andera Named Chair of National Board

Institute for Organization Management, the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, has appointed Blain Andera, Executive Director, Spirit Lake Chamber of Commerce to chair the Winter Board of Regents. As chair of the board, Andera will help implement the policies created by the Institute's National Board of Trustees. 

"A strong board of regents is essential to Institute's success," said Raymond P. Towle, the U.S. Chamber's vice president of Institute for Organization Management. "These volunteers drive site attendance, provide recommendations for program improvement, and serve as an on-site resource for Institute participants."

Early payments help ICCE pay bills and plan for the future programming, knowing resources are available.
ICCE 100 Year Celebration


Plans are well under way for ICCE's 100 Year Celebration.  Your committee, led by Vickie Mallory, is planning a kick off at the March 29th conference with a great celebration event planned for later this summer.  Watch for any information that you may receive regarding the "100 Year ICCE Celebration".

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN LOCATION WHERE WE WILL BE STAYING

Because of the renovation of the Adare Manor we have moved our location for overnight stays to Savoy Hotel in Limerick, this will not change any other plans for the trip.  The Savoy is as beautiful as the Adare and has great shopping, restaurants and in the town of beautiful Limerick.  If you have any questions regarding the change in location please contact Shar Pardubsky at 515-240-8785.  Chamber Discoveries has moved the book and save date to April 15, 2016, so you have plenty of time to make your reservations.  Don't wait too long, reservations are going fast.  We have two chambers with 20 signed up to travel.  Click here to visit the website.
 
Reminder - ICCE members this is an opportunity for your chamber to make some additional revenue.  For each traveler your chamber signs up you will receive $200.  Also, once your chamber has 10 travelers the 11th is at no cost.
