New Jersey Coach Connect
Spring 2017
TopofDoc
From the ICF-NJ President

Three years ago, Global ICF started a Global Leaders Forum. The Forum's purpose is to gather chapter leaders from around the world and the Global ICF board in order to drive alignment, learn about growth in membership and in credentialed members, share information and celebrate chapters that have achieved major impact and accomplishments.

Recently, I had the opportunity to represent ICF-NJ at the ICF Global Leaders' Forum in Warsaw, Poland, with 200 other global leaders from 68 countries. In today's letter, I'll share some key learnings, highlights and personal photos with you.

I'd greatly appreciate your reading this letter and reflecting on the impact the ICF has had on your coaching journey.

Did You Know...?

ICF Global is in its 3 rd  year of their strategic plan. Its priorities are for ICF to:
  1. Represent excellence in professional coaching: ICF researches, develops, and implements robust standards, governance and operational procedures/structures, and applicant requirements for all aspects of the Credentialing Program.
  2. Have the strongest global brand.
  3. Foster the application of coaching for societal change.
  4. Be the most relevant professional coaching organization.
  5. Promote professional coaching.
  6. New for 2017: ICF will further develop and progress the plans to expand the scope and influence of the organization. A high-priority action is for ICF to establish thought leadership through a Thought Leadership Institute.
As a Talent Management Executive and Internal Coach, I know that credentials and credibility are imperative to the success of coaching within organizations. Therefore, I was thrilled to learn that ICF Global plans to expand their support of creating coaching cultures within organizations, and that's something on which I'd like to encourage greater focus on within our chapter.

I think we're off to a good start in that regard, as we had A J O'Connor sponsor a coaching event in January, and Lee Hecht Harrison hosted our May 9th event at their Parsippany office.

ICF Membership Composition
  • ICF global membership continues to grow, with 30,000 members from 140 countries.
  • ICF is the LARGEST professional coaching association worldwide, with 131 chapters in over 70 countries. This is a solid increase over 125 chapters in 2016.
  • ICF has over 20,000 credential holders!
More Things You Should Know about the ICF
  • Converge 17, the ICF Global Conference, will be in Washington DC on August 24-26, 2017. Registration is open! Click here for more information.
  • ICF Volunteer Leader Training will debut at Converge.
  • The ICF website is being redesigned for easier use.
  • ICF-NJ is part of the Northeast Regional Advisory Council (RAC), comprised of chapters from Virginia through Ontario, Canada. RAC's purpose is to share best practices and discover opportunities for partnering. We met in Poland, focused on developing chapter success criteria. These included percent of members who hold an ICF credential; membership retention; percent of members actively engaged in chapter work; professional development (# of CCEUs offered per year) and financial reserves. RAC members will continue these important discussions monthly via Zoom
I hope you enjoyed the highlights. Please feel free to reach out with thoughts, questions, and reactions. I welcome your perspectives and look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event.
