Thank you to those who joined us for this morning's merchant meeting at Be Well LifeStyle Centers. ICYMI, here's a recap of important items:

Birmingham Farmers Market
The Birmingham Farmers Market begins Sunday, May 6 th . All BSD merchants are able to schedule two weeks at the market at no charge. Contact the BSD office for more information at 248-530-1200.

LSMX Licenses
There are still licenses available for LSMX through Buxton, the BSD's retail consultant. LSMX tells merchants who their customers are, where they can find others like them and helps them to target advertisements to that select group. Try the LSMX software at www.myLSMX.com. If you like the program, licenses will be given on a first-come, first-served basis to businesses expressing an interest to the BSD by e-mailing info@allinbirmingham.com.

BSD's Construction Update
The BSD's most important role during the Old Woodward Reconstruction Project will be to communicate information to our merchants. There will be weekly email updates and monthly merchant meetings.  The BSD will be promoting that stores are open during construction through local media outlets. A multifaceted marketing campaign is underway.

FREE Valet Parking
There will be several valet stations providing customers with two hours of free valet parking during construction. The  BSD will distribute a map soon that shows valet parking stations so merchants can share it with their shoppers.

Birmingham Bonus Bucks
Birmingham Bonus Bucks (BBB) will soon be introduced and will run April through July 15 th. For every $100 purchase from a BSD retailer or restaurant, shoppers will be eligible to receive $20 of BBB to spend during their next shopping trip. Full details for shoppers and retailers will be posted on our website soon.

Birmingham Construction Art Contest
The BSD will hold a Birmingham Construction Art Contest. BSD merchants are eligible to apply for/use a 10' panel to promote their business. Details will be posted soon at  www.ALLINBirmingham.com.

City of Birmingham Engineering Report - Old Woodward Reconstruction
The final streetscape will be more pedestrian friendly with the following features:
- There will be raised landscape beds that are longer and linear (not square like they are now).
- There will be better soil to promote tree growth.
- Bench seating with access to electrical outlets for computers/charging phones will be available.

The majority of Old Woodward will become a 3-lane road with a left turn lane that can also be used for smaller delivery trucks.

Throughout construction there will be crosswalks that allow pedestrians to get across the construction area. The project timeline is as follows:
- March 21 - barricades go up
- March 26 - road closes
- Second week of April - second phase starts. Maple will become a one-way street. Westbound traffic will be rerouted.
- Finish by late July/early August. There are incentives for an early finish!

Please note it is important to keep alleys clean and clear of cars parked illegally so that they can be used for deliveries. The police department will be strictly enforcing no parking zones in alleys during construction. If there is a problem and a merchant would like to alert the police, they can call the non-emergency number 248-530-1450.

The next merchant meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 11th from 8 a.m. - 9 a.m. at Vinotecca, located at 210 S Old Woodward Ave. Refreshments will be served.
