China Outlines Innovation-Driven Development
China is counting innovation as pillar of economic development. The country's science and technology minister says nine areas will be at the center of efforts to drive innovation, focusing on converting technical fruits into business.

Chang'e 5 Lunar Probe to Land on Moon and Return in 2017
China will send lunar probe Chang'e 5 to land on the moon and return with lunar samples in the second half of 2017, according to State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (SASTIND) on Friday. It will be the first time a Chinese probe to land on the moon, collect samples and return to Earth, and the third stage of China's lunar exploration endeavor, said the SASTIND.

Chinese Province Aims to Lead Big Data Charge
On Tuesday, China's Premier Li Keqiang and senior ministers gathered foreign and Chinese high-tech executives in the capital of Guizhou to stump for the goal of building a big data industry. Big data is a hot computing field that involves crunching the massive amounts of data collected by Internet companies to discover trends. Guizhou wants to attract everything from the server farms that store the data to the engineers that design programs to sift through the information.
