This month is our Chapter Wide Event, Design Works + Sustainability Forum + Annual Meeting; 3 events, 1 afternoon, 1 CEU, and 20's themed fun!
Do you regularly find yourself telling people you meet that you're an interior designer, and receive the response of "oh that must be fun, you get to pick out paints and colors all day,"? It's up to each of us to represent our industry and influence public perception about our skill sets and responsibilities. Follow this link to read about how to advocate for our profession. Check out the myths and facts on page 7.

What is your design style? Less is more. (Unless it comes to my bed, then the more pillows and comfy layers the better!)
3 things you cannot live without: My friends, family, and my two dogs.
If you were note a designer, what would you be doing? I would be teaching Interior Design! I have always enjoyed helping people succeed. I love helping others younger in their career learn from the mistakes and happy surprises I have had. Being able to teach, I would get to not only continue to help others learn and grow, but be a strong advocate to students to what Interior Design really means and stay on the forefront of the new technologies and trends in our profession.
Why interior design?
When I was younger, my mom and I always loved touring new homes being built within our neighborhoods. We would go while the house only had wood studs and I would wonder around trying to figure out what room I was in and why the house was connected the way it was. It not only was a fun puzzle but a way for me to imagine the space and how people would enjoy it. When I got older, I knew I wanted to create unique spaces for people that would leave an impression on their lives; beyond just the studs, but the whole interior environment.
Why IIDA? IIDA does such a great job promoting and standing up for our profession. Plus it's so much fun going to the events to catch up with the local designers and reps in the area. Though we are all coming from different firms and disciplines, I think it's nice to find a common cause we can all unite for and be proud of together.
