Happy Summer! Check out the following reminders to ensure that your company is in compliance with the states' Notification, Labeling, and Phase-out laws.

On a personal note, I will be on maternity leave from July 1 through October 15. If you have any IMERC-related questions during this time, contact Terri Goldberg at (617) 367-8558 x302 or [email protected]

2016 Triennial Mercury-added Product Notification
The deadline for companies to file their 2016 Mercury-Added Product Triennial Notifications was April 1, 2017.   Most mercury-added product notifiers have submitted their forms; however, some companies have not  and are considered out-of-compliance. Failure to comply with the requirements may result in non-notifiers being referred for enforcement.

If you have not yet done so, file your 2016 Triennial notification forms through the IMERC e-filing system as soon as possible.
Labeling Requirements for Mercury-added Products
During the Notification process, companies must also self-certify that their mercury-added products meet the approved labeling requirements.  Companies may request approval for an "Alternative Label" for use on certain products that they feel cannot meet the standard labeling requirements.

To ensure compliance, review the "Standard Labeling" guidelines at: www.newmoa.org/prevention/mercury/imerc/labelinginfo.cfm.
Mercury-added Product Phase-outs & Bans
Some mercury-added products are banned from sale in some or all of the IMERC states, including: button-cell batteries, sphygmomanometers, thermometers, thermostats, switches/relays, and others. If your company's product(s) falls within one of the categories covered by the states' sales phase-out requirements and you want to continue to sell it/them in the applicable states, you may apply for an administrative exemption by submitting a Mercury-Added Product Phase-out Exemption Application Form to IMERC

To ensure compliance, check out the applicable bans and the affected states at: www.newmoa.org/prevention/mercury/imerc/banphaseout.cfm.
