Discover DeKalb Announces Collaboration of Multi-Million Dollar Sports Tourism Destination An estimated 3 million visitors to visit the destination

Tucker, GA – Feb. 22, 2017
– Discover DeKalb Convention & Visitors Bureau along with Atlanta Sports Connection and Atlanta Partners for Development, announced today, a collaboration partnership to build a multi-million dollar sports tourism destination. Atlanta Sports City, located in the new City of Stonecrest, is a 190-acre entertainment and recreational sports facility also with the ability for corporate activities and services. The $200 million investment will support 1,937 jobs with an estimated 3 million visitors annually. Situated on the southeastern side of the Mall at Stonecrest, Atlanta Sports City will accommodate over 22 different sports and will host numerous amateur and professional sports events throughout the year.
Atlanta Sports City will feature indoor and outdoor sports facilities, restaurants, retail shops, entertainment venues, extreme sports area, meeting and event space, hotels and Stonecrest Stadium, a 15,000-seat professional stadium that is expected to be the home for two professional sports team; one men’s and one women’s team. The state-of-the art sports destination will also include athletic training facilities, a field house with indoor practice field, a covered outdoor field, outdoor multi-use fields, sports diamonds, and indoor courts.
