NIGA Launches Powerful Casino Benchmarking Tool

Indian Gaming Employee Compensation Survey Is a Valuable Resource for HR Professionals

Washington, DC (July 25, 2013) - The National Indian Gaming Association recently launched the Indian Gaming Employee Compensation Survey, a powerful benchmarking tool that enables casino general managers and human resources professionals to obtain wage and salary comparison reports for dozens of key positions.

"This is a valuable resource that we are excited to offer to Indian Country," said NIGA Executive Director Jason Giles. "It builds on the NIGA Wage Survey by incorporating the latest technology to provide a more user-friendly experience. The new survey platform also offers many more reporting options that our members will appreciate."

The Indian Gaming Employee Compensation Survey launched on June 5, 2013, and already over 40 facilities have provided general information about their wages and compensation.

One of the participating Tribes is the Seminole Tribe in Florida.

"We are very excited to have this opportunity to participate this year.  While we do use a variety of compensation surveys, I have always felt having a base line within the Indian community is the most valuable comparison of our peers," said Greg Calvert, Director of Compensation and Benefits for the Seminole Gaming Administration. "Ascertaining our competitiveness with regard to pay and rewards is essential in maintaining a wage structure that attracts talent, which in turn promotes a great guest experience."

The survey platform is designed by Dynamic Benchmarking, a New Hampshire-based technology firm that specializes in employee compensation benchmarking surveys. Their clientele includes the American Society of Association Executives, American Association of Museums, and the American Society of Interior Designers. Information is encoded and protected to ensure anonymity.

Broad participation is needed to accurately provide as many regional reporting comparisons as possible. All Indian gaming facilities are asked to submit their 2012 wage and salary data by Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Comparison reporting will be available shortly after this deadline for those who submit information.

"I would strongly encourage all of my casino HR colleagues in Indian Country to participate in this survey," said Calvert. "The more all of us put into this, the more we will get out of it."

Please forward this message to your Tribe's casino executives or human resources department.
