Camping in solidarity with Standing Rock - Bearing Witness 6

Standing Rock Reservation, North Dakota
The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe has inspired the largest gathering of native tribes and the thousands who'd amassed to support their struggle to prevent 17,000 gallons of oil per minute within miles of the tribe's drinking water source are currently gathering to show support and solidarity. "Water is life". They are compassionately and peacefully responding to a threat to our health and safety. The proposed path goes right under the Missouri river, the 2nd largest in North America which is the water source for their tribe, 7 states, including parts of Canada and serves as a drinking water supply for nearly 2 million Missourians alone.

And they are calling for our help...
Bearing Witness with Indigenous Peoples...

From Sept 17-24 we are taking a trip to camp with the indigenous people and their supporters on Sioux landIn the tradition of Bernie Glassman and our Zen Peacemaker order, we "show up" , willing to listen deeply - not thinking "we" know what "they" need. Otherwise, we are not present to help. This is Bearing Witness 6 and the first "Hands-on service opportunity" between Heartwood Refuge and Treasure Human Life. The entire Heartwood Refuge staff and community will be there.

Within our group-and anyone who wants to join us-we will have Dharma talks, meditation sessions, peacemaker training, and deliver supplies requested by Standing Rock.  We will be camping.
