The Cathedral is Closed today due to Vandalism
St. Andrew's Cathedral is closed today due to an incident of vandalism.
Evensong tonight is cancelled

Please pray for our Cathedral. This is the second incident of vandalism in the last few weeks and there have been many more in the last few years.
The cathedral sustained significant damage last night. Someone threw large pieces of stone against the oldest of the cathedral windows, sending shards of glass across the entire nave. Damage was also done to the Ewa Cloister outside the Sacristy.  It's going to take a great deal of time to collect shards of glass from all across the nave.  It's between pews, in hymnal racks, etc.  These shards must be recovered to try to repair the windows.  Also, it appears  that one of the great doors on the west window has been yanked partially off of its fixture.
As a result, the Bishop and Dean ordered the cathedral to remain closed until further notice, and that today's Evensong be canceled.  Please help to get this word out.  If you have cathedral access, please do not go in. There is a danger of tracking glass shards or even accidentally crushing pieces by walking around.
