Dear Senesh Parents:

Thank you to the many Senesh parents who shared feedback through our survey and joined or watched the recording of our recent State of School where I discussed plans for September. Based on the latest State guidance and the assumption that the virus will continue to recede, we are optimistic as we plan for next year.

In-Person Learning
Our commitment for next year is that all students will return to in-person learning Monday-Friday. We will not have a full time remote program and will make decisions regarding intermittent use of distance learning based on the impact of the virus on our community.

School Hours
In the past year, we have made many changes due to COVID and have reflected on the pros and cons of these changes as we plan for next year. We have also reviewed studies regarding children’s health and wellness including the importance of sleep, length of school days, time to pursue other activities, and more time to just slow down. We have also learned to optimize the learning time we have in school.

With this in mind, the arrival and dismissal times by grade for the 2021-22 school year will be:
  • 8:00-8:30am Lower School Early Drop Off
  • 7th/8th 8:15am-3:45pm
  • 5th/6th: 8:15am-3:40pm
  • 4th: 8:15am-3:30pm
  • 2nd-3rd: 8:20am-3:25pm
  • K-1st: 8:25am-3:30pm

Afterschool Program
We expect to have our afterschool program return and will begin registration on June 1, 2021.

Bus Service
We expect t to offer bus service as we have in previous years. We will share information as we receive it from the Department of Transportation.

Safety Measures
  • We are thrilled that adults and children over age 12 are now eligible for the vaccine, which will be required for all staff and students ages 12 and over by the start of school in September 2021. Vaccinations will help us all stay healthier and resume our pre-COVID activities, including the potential for eliminating mask-wearing at school and allowing for middle school overnight trips, including our 8th grade trip to Israel, where vaccines are required.
  • We expect to start the year with morning health screenings, hand hygiene protocols, mask wearing, and extra sanitizing and cleaning of the facility.

Over the summer we will update you on additional decisions or policies, including information about community gatherings, middle school athletics, distancing measures, the use of a cohort/pod model, testing, trips, the school lunch program, and more.

I am looking forward to honoring our staff and celebrating with our community this Tuesday evening, May 25 at 8pm. I hope you will add a tribute to honor our staff. Register here and send a free tribute to Senesh staff members!
