Voter Holds Envelope In Hand Above Vote Ballot On Blue Background. Freedom Democracy Concept
Canada’s Minister of Gun Bans, Bill Blair, says guns like the AR-15 are such a threat to public safety they must be banned and confiscated.

“There are some weapons, quite frankly, in my opinion, that are so dangerous that there really is no place in a safe and civil society for them,” he said. [i]

Yet since the election of the Trudeau government four long years ago, Blair has not lifted a finger to remove these “dangerous” guns from the hands of their lawful owners.

And he won't – until after the federal election.

Not until the Liberal government gets re-elected.

Clearly these guns aren’t as dangerous to public safety as the AR-15 Salesman of the Year would have Canadians believe.

If they were, Minister Blair would have used every tool at his disposal, including banning guns by Order in Council, to remove them from the hands of their licensed and lawful owners.
Immediately. But he didn’t.

Instead, Bill Blair is using “black rifles” like the AR-15 as a Liberal election tool.

It is crass political opportunism at its best – or worst.

These guns are either a problem or they’re not.

They’re either a critical threat to public safety or they’re not.
They can’t be “so dangerous” there is “no place” for them in civil society and still remain in the hands of hundreds of thousands of licensed civilian gun owners.

So what’s really going on here?

The Liberal government is using lawful gun ownership as a political tool, and doing so on the backs of 2.2 million lawful Canadians. That ought to peel the scales from the eyes of even the most hard-line “gun control” advocate.

This might break your heart Wendy, but guns aren’t really an issue to the Liberals. If they were, Bill Blair would act, without hesitation, to remove them from the hands of Canadians.
That he refuses to do so proves one of two things.

Either these guns are not really a threat to public safety or the Liberal Party doesn’t care about public safety.

One or the other. It can’t be both, and we're putting our money on the crude political games.
So what's the end game with this spin-dry approach to public safety?

Because the s urvey conducted by Liberal toadies Hill+Knowlton Strategies at the time of the terrible Parkland shootings in the U.S. claimed, “Gun control presents an untapped opportunity for Justin Trudeau and his team to grow and solidify the voting base that gave them a majority in 2015.” [ii]

Like we said, it’s not about firearms, it’s about votes.

Just as it ever was.

No deadline for cabinet to put Liberal gun law into force

Tim Naumetz | ipolitics.ca | July 3, 2019

Key measures in Liberal firearms legislation that went through final approval after the House of Commons adjourned in June will not take effect until cabinet passes special orders on a date that has not yet been set.

Firearm lobby groups who fought the legislation tooth and nail say they expect the measures might not be put into force before the October federal election.

Public Safety Canada quietly issued a statement after the bill received royal assent on June 31 stating that only some the bill’s “technical” amendments to the Firearms Act took effect immediately after Governor General Julie Payette signed off on the legislation.

But there is no deadline yet for cabinet to pass orders and approve regulations that will give effect to other measures that were strongly supported by advocates for stiffer gun controls during the bill’s contentious yearlong journey through Parliament.

Arms exports to Saudi Arabia reach $1.2-billion in 2018, despite calls for Canada to suspend permits

Samantha Wright Allen | The Hill Times | July 3, 2019

It’s ‘unacceptable’ Canada has yet to finish a review, eight months in, on weapons permits to Saudi Arabia, say critics of the LAV contract.

Arms exports to Saudi Arabia doubled to $1.2-billion in 2018, which advocates say makes Canada “complicit” in human rights violations and “puts a lie” to Canada’s ongoing eight-month review of the munitions it’s sending to the desert kingdom.

That amount suggests a ramping up of production on Canada’s controversial multi-year $15-billion deal to send light-armoured vehicles, said experts who questioned Canada’s sincerity in reviewing export permits to Riyadh amid “serious concerns” weapons could be used on its civilians and in the Saudi-led conflict in Yemen, where its forces are fighting in a devastating, years-long war.

Pistols made from a 4.5 billion-year-old meteorite could fetch $1.5 million at auction

By satoshinakamotoblog.com | July 4, 2019

2019’s Proud American Heroes

This year has already had some surprising and heroic moments for several Americans. Take a look at some proud Americans from 2019.

Two pistols made from a 4.5 billion-year-old meteorite could fetch $1.5 million when they are auctioned later this month.

Constructed from part of the Muonionalusta Meteorite, which was discovered in Sweden in 1906, the working .45 caliber pistols offer an unusual take on the classic 1911 handgun design.
Experts believe that the meteorite slammed into Earth about 1 million years ago, although the meteorite itself is thought to date back some 4.5 billion years.

Theft of family heirlooms on loan 'weighs heavily on us,' board chair says

In its four-decade history, the Conception Bay Museum in Harbour Grace had never had a break-in.

That is, not until some time before March 17, when Patrick Collins, noticed something was awry.

"I went down to do a tour with some kids and I noticed the back door had been pried open," Collins, the museum board chair, told the St. John's Morning Show.

Gun groups sue over California law banning firearms sales to those under 21

Tribune Content Agency | Daily Republic | July 3 2019

SACRAMENTO — Gun owner groups have filed a federal lawsuit challenging California’s new law banning the sale of firearms to those under the age of 21, arguing that people who are 18 and over are adults with legal rights to possess pistols and rifles.

The lawsuit was filed Monday in San Diego by groups including the Calguns Foundation and Firearms Policy Coalition, and targets state laws including one that took effect in January that raised the legal age limit for buying long guns from 18 to 21. The suit also challenges a previous law barring sales of handguns to those under 21.

“Once individuals turn 18, they are adults in the eyes of the law,” said John W. Dillon, the Carlsbad attorney representing the gun groups. “Law-abiding adults are entitled to fully exercise all of their fundamental rights, including their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms for all lawful purposes, not just hunting or sport.”
California Town Declares Itself Second Amendment Sanctuary City

Jake Dima | Daily Caller | July 3, 2019

Needles, California, has declared itself a sanctuary city for the Second Amendment and plans to resist some of California’s restrictive gun laws, which they say infringe on their right to keep and bear arms.

Needles’ city council voted unanimously to make the declaration, but its reported that this will have “no immediate practical impact on how guns are treated in the city.” Instead, attorneys are drafting legislation to allow those with out-of-state concealed weapons permits to be able to carry in the city, according to  the Associated Press .

“They want to pick and choose what they follow,” Needles City Councilman Tim Terral told AP. “It’s ‘We’re going to shield this person, but we’re going to go after that person.’ And in our opinion they have violated the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution in many ways.”

Parents of Las Vegas massacre victim sue gunmakers over bump-stock-ready weapons

Reuters | canada.com | July 3, 2019

The parents of one of the 58 people slain in a 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting sued the makers and sellers of the assault-style rifles used in the attack, saying they knew the weapons could be jury-rigged to work similarly to illegal machine guns.

The wrongful death lawsuit placed blame for the high death toll in the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history squarely on the manufacturers and dealers who allegedly knew the weapons could be converted into rapid-firing machines.

The lawsuit filed by James and Ann-Marie Parsons, whose daughter Carrie was struck by one of the 1,049 shots fired in the 10-minute Oct. 1, 2017, barrage on 20,000 unsuspecting concertgoers, seeks unspecified damages from 16 gunmakers and gun dealers.
Virginia Bill Allowing Local Gov. Employees To Carry with CHP Coming

Philip Van Cleave | Ammoland Inc. | July 4, 2019

Virginia – -( AmmoLand.com )- Virginia Senator Dick Black has been working with Virginia Citizens Defense League (EM Hal Macklin and me ) in drafting a bill that allows local government employees to be able to carry concealed at work if they have a Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP).

The bill is now complete and ready to be introduced shortly! Senator Black's bill, if it had been law earlier this year, would have definitely saved lives during the Virginia Beach massacre. And that's if the massacre was even attempted in the first place, with the murderer knowing that there were lots of armed employees in Building #2.

Senator Black has always been a strong believer in our right to keep and bear arms. Even though he has decided to retire, he's not pulling any punches, even now, in fighting to protect innocent life in Virginia.
Presidential candidate Swalwell's poll on gun buyback program backfires; 79% say, 'No. We Love Guns > Kids'

By Phi Davis | The Baltimore Sun | July 2, 2019

Rep. Eric Swalwell’s Twitter poll on a proposed federal gun buyback program probably did not go the way he planned, as nearly 80 percent of respondents said, “No. We love Guns > Kids.”

Posted by the Democratic presidential candidate at 9:30 p.m. Monday, the poll asked Twitter users whether they’d support “a ban AND buy-back of every weapon of war in America.”

The choices were either “Yes! Australia already has” or “No. We love Guns > Kids,” further pushing the fact that the University of Maryland graduate has looked to position himself as the candidate with the toughest proposals for gun control.

By 10 p.m. Tuesday, the results did not seem to be going Swalwell’s way as 79 percent of the 119,342 votes cast were for the “Guns > Kids” option.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR –
Canada’s laws aren’t working like they used to

Gord Dykstra | Lethbridge Herald | July 5, 2019

I am 70 years old and born and raised in Saskatchewan. When I was young, houses were not locked. In the back of a half-ton, you could leave your tools, chain, tires and jack-alls. Back window racks would hold rifles and shotguns. Bikes and toys left in the yard were not taken.

Nothing is safe anymore. Now if you try to stop a thief from stealing your possessions, you may be charged. Crime costs taxpayers money directly and indirectly. Some examples of direct cost are illegal immigration, paying known terrorists up to $10.5 million, security guards in stores and at public events, Narcan kits and needles used by illegal drug users (diabetics have to buy their own needles). Examples of indirect costs are increased lighting, security systems at homes and businesses, escalating insurance costs, increased costs at stores to make up for theft and increased police presence.
