The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) established a number of new, flexible funding streams and authorities that states and districts can employ to improve science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education. As individual states submit their ESSA compliance plans to the Department of Education (ED), we see the states utilizing these new programs to varying degrees. The experts in this panel discussion will explore which states are leading the pack in STEM education innovation, which states are leaving opportunity on the table, and what Congress can do to help them.
Speakers:
James Brown, Executive Director, STEM Education Coalition, Moderator
Stephanie Rodriguez, Ph.d, Director of STEM Policy, Afterschool Alliance
Michael Feder, Director of STEMx, Battelle
Anand Vaishnav, Principal, Education First
Sponsored By: STEM Education Coalition and Battelle/STEMx
Thanks to Chairman Lamar Smith of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology for hosting the event.
